    Yep.

Very vibey until about 6,000rpm. When I got it was smooth right through the range.

Don't think the chain or guides got replaced when the piston/rings and bottom end got done.

What's the best option for air filters Nordie?

Jatz what's that bag like on the front guard of your bike? i'm thinking of getting one but not if they fall off, are difficult to undo, or rip really easily.

I finished my rack for the DRZ & it doesn't look too bad. I have now split my tools up for the DRZ & BMW. Guess which one has more tools for it?

Woodman spare cushdrive bearing here for ya.

    Topo found your tube again.

madmartin just so you don't feel left out - When the doctors take turns pulling the needles out of your leg will marbles drop down your leg & out your foot?

I like TwinAir but anything works.
Pre-oiled NoToil seems like a good deal...

I like the NoToil maintenance kit too. Wash the filter out in the sink.

If it's one of the strap-on-front-guard-with-2-tyre-levers-etc ones, I may have one in the emporium you can try...

    Why thank you Sir.
Looks to be the same price as in the shops I think.
I may try the bag thing. If you didn't have the action man vest would you use it? Have you used it & if so what was it like?

I've always used KTM/TwinAir OEM stuff, with No Toil by far the best cleaner system. Munn Racing (KTM of Texas) sell & recommend DT-1, which I see Torpedo 7 now sell, introductory special $6.99.

    Signed,

It doesn't work on the TT because of the brace on top of the guard. It doesn't work on the DR because the headlight is mounted too low and the kiwi is in the way.

    It works nicely.
You file some small (1-2mm deep) notches in the edge of the guard to sit the clips in and they don't move at all.

Only really room for one tube and 2 levers.

    Strong material.

I saw those on T7 but discounted them straight away due to the cheap cost. Expensive engine rebuilds & all that. maybe I'll look them up & see what people say about them.

I detect a slight twang in your accent Nordie...

    well yeah nah maybe???

I have been intending to put a rack on the back of it so I don't have to carry a backpack all the time. At the same time I thought I should really change the airfilter as it hasn't been changed ( cleaned yes a few times) since i've had it.
I got a warrant the other day so I'm getting it ready for summer.

I do want to take it to Anatori etc again so if that's a long ride... It also may take a month to put Schmidt back together judging by the way time is flying by.

I've been researching airfilters & on TT they were warning not to use K&Ns for really dusty situations. They are good for the road but. Seems those DT1s are pretty rated out there & for $6 they look like a dynOmite deal. It's a pity they don't list a DRZ 400 one. They are a different stock no than the others - I thought air filters were all alike.

Smart advice on the K&Ns. If you read their packaging, they admit to flowing a lot more dust. They just phrase it advantageously.

At Munns the KTM TwinAir filter is $22 vs $20 for the DT-1 (USD), so they are a bargain at T7.

    Colin

    ?
Yeah it's o.k, it can be a bit hard to get on tight but seems to hang on o.k. Just don't try to cram to much stuff in it.
It stayed in place during the Molesworth incident, just got a bit scuffed on 1 corner
