My suspicion is that even if there was world-wide condemnation by a united humanity over this film (a drop in the ocean of mankind's existence, mind you) there would still be those who will relish the opportunity to use it as a vehicle of hatred against fellow human beings. Simply because it is in their nature to do so.

Media coverage is almost universally anti-Islamic. Continual brain washing in this manner is IMO responsible for the radical and polarised views expressed in this thread.
The countries kicking up a bit rough have endured actions which would make even complacent (BUT NOT BRAIN DEAD) Kiwis turn into members of riotous mobs, rebels, insurgents...call them what you will.
The US and Israel kill, maim,starve or deprive people of their liberty every day. Our news editors are so one sided/controlled we don't get to see that.
Russel Falk, the UN Special Rapporteur to the Middle East reported the long term hunger strike of 1500 Palestinian prisoners and the iminent death of many of them. There was no media coverage of this.
Compare this with the coverage Cheng wan Cheng, the Chinese blind disident got or the Israeli soldier captured by the Palestinians and held for five years. There was International pressure to have him released.
Of the 1500 hunger strikers - No coverage.
The US invaded Iraq because they said they had failed to abide by two UN resolutions.
The fact that Israel has ignored hundreds of UN resolutions against them doesn't get a mention.

Christians have a long (and even recent) history of reacting to offensive provocation. It wasn't that long ago that the "Virgin in a Condom" exhibit in New Zealand resulted in threats against both the artist and the gallery.

Not sure what point you are aiming at and missing but let me help to prevent potential confusion; my post was comparing Baptists and Muslims. These are people of differing religious affiliations based on one's self-proclaimed belief in and adherence to different Adult Imaginary Friends. Believers may be any race. Muslim is not a race; nor is Baptist.

'Whites' and 'Blacks' are races and are defined by skin color.

If you wished to deal the Race Card, please put it back in your deck.

I'm presently on a work assignment in Sydney and in a hotel 5 minutes' walk from the protest scene. On my way back from Coles with groceries I came across this "protest". What was remarkable was the naked threat of death from many in the protesters - not just what they wrote on signs but what they shouted at the police and the citizenry generally - and also their clear financial support from the taxpayer (when my wife and I had kids that age when I was an apprentice we couldn't afford to buy the strollers and backpacks and designer gear and jewelry they flaunt and encrust themselves with).

They were also generally unwashed, and the shrieking harridans were more worrisome than their illiterate (assumed) yelling-and-grunting partners mainly because one could see this unrelenting anti-West hatred being fed as a daily diet to their offspring.

The police took no *significant* action despite the death threats clearly uttered against the (rest of) the population in general and against non-Muslim Australians in particular. *The arrests made were for injuring police with flying (thrown) bottles - and indeed the perps assaulting the police should be arrested - but the police and authorities as usual gave a free pass to adherents of the ROP (Religion Of Peace) threatening to kill the rest of us who don't believe theirs is a Religion Of Peace...
