I think it was simply a catalyst.
My email has been bombarded with anti-Islamic hate speech for far too long. Part of an organised movement?
Media coverage is almost universally anti-Islamic. Continual brain washing in this manner is IMO responsible for the radical and polarised views expressed in this thread.
The countries kicking up a bit rough have endured actions which would make even complacent (BUT NOT BRAIN DEAD) Kiwis turn into members of riotous mobs, rebels, insurgents...call them what you will.
The US and Israel kill, maim, starve or deprive people of their liberty every day. Our news editors are so one sided/controlled we don't get to see that.
Russel Falk, the UN Special Rapporteur to the Middle East reported the long term hunger strike of 1500 Palestinian prisoners and the iminent death of many of them. There was no media coverage of this.
Compare this with the coverage Cheng wan Cheng, the Chinese blind disident got or the Israeli soldier captured by the Palestinians and held for five years. There was International pressure to have him released.
Of the 1500 hunger strikers - No coverage.
The US invaded Iraq because they said they had failed to abide by two UN resolutions.
The fact that Israel has ignored hundreds of UN resolutions against them doesn't get a mention.
Atheism and Religion are but two sides of the same coin.
One prefers to use its head, while the other relies on tales.
