Sounds great, can't wait to get the Transalp regoed again, if I had the stickers and gas I'd pop up there tonight and join that one (J being up in the NI this weekend and all). Now that I think of it I haven't made it up to Nelson in well over a year. Got to blame that on the weather and price of gas.

I'd be up for a lap or two of the 6 hour track. 1pm?

Might meet up with the 4wd guys en-route.
    Cheers,
    Colin

    Whilst still taking photos...

Yep. I was planning to attack the gnarlier stuff. Much of it would be doable in the dry with smooth tyres, and much of it has nearby road routes. We'll sort something out.

I also wanted to have a look at the enduro terrain tests - might take a little finding as I was stationed at the experts only one, and you don't want to go in there without knobs - and possibly not at all on an adventure bike!
    Cheers,
    Colin

    Well.... that was fun

Maruia saddle's a bit un-cared for, but good none the less. Ended up going to Greymouth/Punakaiki/Westport as I had an afternoon to fill in after lunch
I sorta like having a nice bike to ride

That was a good ride, cheers WW.

Lots of new tracks, like riding in a whole new place. Would have been impossible in the wet with the tyres I had on, possibly even with knobblies.

Both bikes stayed upright the whole ride too. No pics sorry.

Don't worry, I've got lots of pics.

Shane followed most of the 6-hour track...

I don't think I'll be doing that sort of thing again
Didn't get out 'till about 6:10pm.
    The gate closes at 6pm...

    Scout Rd was fun.
The Isolation Trig singletrack loop was fun-ish.

One 4wd (Nissan V6 in a Suzuki) went up Yamaha Hill. That's the steep one that drops down off Savage Rd and heads west to the fenceline.

I've never even seen a bike get up that.

2 tried Mt Everest and got halfway...

The 6-hour really chewed up the tracks. There were half metre ruts through the forest, and now there is a bit less gorse along the edges and a pair of flatter, wider ruts...
