...i wouldn't mind having a celtic type of war chariot with a trusty horse up front ...with Ohlins fitted to keep the iron on the tarmac...

Couple of questions which may not be relevant in some areas of the country.
Where I am, motorcycles can use bus lanes and there is a toll road which is free for motorcycles. Whats the deal in these situations with a spyder?

    Heh, you're such a biter

/edit: Oh BTW, you appear to be confused... you ride a motorcycle, so you're automatically a motorcyclists; it's not something you can opt out of. Vicky doesn't ride a motorcycle, so she's not a motorcyclist... it's not something she can opt into either... unless she hardens up and rides a bike

Yes... but only if you want to look down on them, that's entirely your own choice. Personally I find a motorcycle converted (ruined) into a trike worse than something like a Spyder, but that's just me... I don't look down on them, to me they're just another vehicle on the road that's not a motorcyclist. I can't even raise much derision for them... they're just treated with indifference like all other non-motorcycles.

Good for them... however, that's not relevant to 'is it a motorcycle'.

That's awesome. Me, I could give two shits what they do. Ride, drive, bike, fly, whatever.... if they're not doing it on a motorcycle, they just don't feature on the radar.

They can be on the road all the like... but in response to the first question, which was what's the etiquette regarding waving etc... no, I do not wave at them, they're not motorcycles and thus not motorcyclists.

That too is awesome. Completely irrelevant though (btw he's not a motorcyclist, he's a triker (or whatever a trike rider is called), that's all.

I don't really care about the classification but I would be interested in the answer to my previous question, can you use bus lanes (when a m/cycle is allowed) and what toll (bike or car ) do you pay when required?

Bassmatt, I'd say they can go ahead, use the bus lane, I don't think anyone in a position to ticket them will worry about it. I'd use the bus lanes, there's room for a trike/spyder and no-one's going to pull them over.

As for Route K, the problem is where motorbikes ride through the tolls. On a motorbike you go through a narrow lane to the outside of the left hand side barrier arm, I don't think they could take a trike/spyder through there. Maybe they can, they'd have to try and see if the trike/spyder fits around and under the barrier arm in the left hand lane.

They could try to go through the pay toll booth and ask for the barrier to be raised for them. If they have to pay, then they stop the trike/spyder, turn the engine off, get off, slowly undress to get their money (which is best kept safely in their innermost pocket), pay, slowly get dressed again, mount up again, have trouble starting (judicious use of the kill switch should prolong the time it takes to restart the engine) and ride through. A few passages through the toll booth this way would quickly convince the toll booth staff that trikes/spyders qualify for the free passage offered to motorcycles.

So this person im talking about shouldnt have (butchered in your opinion) converted his "bike" into a "trike" so he could get out and be a "biker" but he should have just stayed at home and died quietly in a corner so as he doesnt offend you.

It is as it started out as a two wheeler and he is a motorcyclist.

Thanks for the considered reply, now wash your mouth out with soap
I ride a "real" motorbike, Steve, I was just interested in how the popo etc may view the spyder.

    Hmm...
    -car license
-more than 2 wheels (and they're car wheels at that)
    -insurance considers them as cars

    But...
-you wear a helmet and protective gear
    -you sit on it (haha)
    -has handlebars
-they get just as wet as you in the rain, feel the same cold etc

IDGAF - If they wave I wave, if they don't then they don't get a wave from me

If someone waves to me I feel super special and have to wave back..
I love the people that try to nod their head upwards, the wind catches the helmet and lifts it up at an uncomfortable rate haha
