    Question crf230f vs crf250x

Hi we want a bike to have around on the farm and a bike that i can take to the dome valley mx park or some other place i like the 250x but oil changes will be more annoying than anything else.how long can these things last without an oil change.230 good but a bit slow i reckon not slow but not that muck power on tap for what i like doing.oh and 250x valves? whats up with them
    Thanks

So you are comparing a competition 4 stroke with a trailbike. You can't have your cake & eat it too. Sounds like you need two bikes.

You just have to feed modern performance 4 strokes parts at the specified intervals, just as you did with MX 2 strokes, or run the risk they go pop if you stretch your luck, - just the 2 strokes were more tolerant.

Mate, just get a steel frame WR250f

or an alloy frame if you have the $

07 is the first alloy, 5 years old, probably affordable by now

You're on to it Dave he really needs 2 bikes a AG200 and a WR250f.
There's no such bike that can be as reliable as a farm hack and perform like a full on enduro weapon. A AG200 can last for years on minimal maintance clocking up huge K's and hours, try putting a few thousand hours on a WR/CRFX/EXCf what will the parts bills be?

There was a dairy farmer up here had a wrf450 for a farm bike, only real issue would be rust, heard of a farmer with a race quad ( kfx450 ) which has run well to.

Though the best bet would be a wrf450 I reckon, maybe a crf450x, you'd want a 450 I think so the engine is never working that hard.

The school kid post was after I'd written my post, not an ideal combo 450+school kid. The ktm200 would be a good call.

Time to face the fact the poster can't make a decision or choice on what to buy and appears to be a 4 yr in the dairy with 50 cents to buy some candy and can't choose, because it can't understand 50 cents can only buy so much but it wants more.

I didn't imply you had no brain just what your want/needs will mean a compromise on either both or one bike, had a PE175N used it for 18mths as a commuter, trail bike, enduro bike etc clocked up 15,000 k's most reliable 2 smoke I've ever owned.
A similar bike would be a TTR250,XR250 can do most things well.
