Read the history of the mormon church.
His opponent subscribes to a cult started by a conman in the 1800's, and half the country will vote for him.

The problem with democracy is that it gives people the right to vote.

More seriously, the real issue shown in those videos is not the one or two dolts found to make idiotic comments, but the usage of those dolts (who don't represent the majority) to "prove" a point.
Democracy ends up being a popularity contest, and more and more we see it becomming a mud slinging thing, rather than being about the issues. Both sides in America do it (though I think it's slightly worse on the Republican side), and we see it here too.
I see it on the message board at Trade Me, which I use as an indicator of what Joe Average in N.Z. thinks.
Currently we have looney lefties starting threads where National is blamed for basically everything, including the same old problems that existed when Labour was last in power. It's brain dead politics.
And I'm not blaming the looney lefties, as the rabid righties were doing the same thing when Labour was last in power.
I don't really know what the solution is, other than Education in general, so that hopefully people can at least try to make informed decisions.

If they're both inherently going to do the same things, then a winning smile seems to go a long way. After all, if your leader has a shit smile the whole party is weak. It's true, I read it on KB and sawed it on the news.
I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
