I remember riding home on my scooter from work a few months ago and I wasn't going fast enough up a hill for some dickhead's liking. It was dark and freezing cold, and he tailgated me and kept flashing his headlights to get me to pull over. First off, I'm fucked if I'm going to pull over for someone like that. Secondly, there WAS nowhere to pull over, traffic was bad and visibility was poor. As soon as I got up the hill, dickhead passed me on the median strip and gave me the finger. If I'd been fast enough to keep up to him, I'd have followed him home and punched his mirror out.

Not sure what it is about the road between Roxburgh and Alex, apart from the Police gravitating to Fruitlands whenever the weather is nice. I just about got knocked off by lightning once along there and another time watched a bike fail to get round that 55k curve at Gorge Creek. I never knew Harleys sparked that much sliding along the road. Very pretty.

If you had been fast enough to keep up with him you wouldn't have held him up in the first place.

I've done the road in question and like Mrs Shrek a fairly new rider to boot, I agree with Shrek! Regardless of what or how anyone is riding, the yellow line is there for a reason. Shrek knows that road as do a few others and believe me I would listen to what they say in regards to it all!

I think some people here have missed the point about riding to conditions!!!
Conditions were bad and they were riding appropriately. Fuckwit in car was not, nor making allowances for others, which says something about their driving ability.....and the ability of strident critics............
I've had a similar experience on the Desert road in winter in heavy fog.......I couldn't, see the road properly at 60k, which was faster than I wanted to go......didn't stop cars blasting past at 120 and immediately being swallowed in the murk.........

I rode an RG150 all the way from Taupo to Wellington last year in the north island snow week. All I'm hearing is excuses.

From Otaki to Johnsonville the cars were stationary and there were drifts 40cm high in the middle of the road.

fair enough riding to the conditions but from what you've described you were riding too close to mrs shrek so people couldn't overtake safely.

I think some people on here lack any idea of the depth of shreks riding experience which is considerable. Mrs S is starting to get up there too, so for him make a judgement to respond to dangerous driving in this manner would have been a considered action given the road, conditions and poor cage driving.

thats what came to me about 0200 this morning when I was driving back from up country, as two wrongs don't make a right so rang this morning & in your words (hopefully you came to your senses and canned the idea)

---- hence having said that I would most likely do it again if mrs S or someone I was riding with was being bullied (very slow learner)

To be fair, I can understand that, I've had to give another driver a smack in the chops for tailgating my Mrs.

But there was enough room for the car to overtake you at one point, and then enough room for you to over take it back to sit between your mrs and the car,. but not enough room for you to slow down alil to let the car past for the next 10ks ??? maybe you guys need a few riding lessons then or should stick to some non dodgy straight roads during the day.. hahaha
