By '82 I'd already sold the last XL350. Had a moderately hot Mini.

I was listening to this, some:

In '92 I was throwing a KT250 down banks and into creeks. Driving a '70 Buick Skylark coupe.

I had this on the new sterio:

Buick and stereo gone. Long gone.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon

In 82 I was at Uni and riding one of these. Young, free and single.

    and listening to this

By 92 I was married and had a 6month old daughter, sold my FJ for a house deposit but managed to keep hold of my old R90S and kept riding when the kids were young. Back then listened to stuff like Alice in Chains, Tool, Rush and Queensryche.

1982: I bought my first bike that I could legally ride on the road. An SL100.

When I went for my licence the Traffic Officer looked at my bike, laughed and asked if I vomitted every morning when I saw it !!!!

1992: I had progressed to an XR200R but some B@st@rd stole it. For 2 years I continued to pay off the HP but without the bike!

I bought a cheap old IT175 to ride. It was a piece of crap so no one stole it.

Those old sl 100s were a cool wee bike. Had a lot of fun on one.

I know. It served me well.

I still have an SL125 tucked away in the corner of the garage. But that was made 40 years ago not 20.

Thanks for those pics of the XL100 and SL125. My first bike was the XL100 then I went up to SL125, lots of em. Bit embarrassing to learn on your post they only had 12hp. How did I manage to have so much fun with that?Lets keep that quiet.

82 ?,,,A pity you couldn't see the future huh.
You would of been able to tell him your bike was going to last longer than his job.
Now that would of been funny.

Yes, that would have been very funny.

This thread inspired me to get the old girl out of the corner so on Saturday afternoon she went up on the bike platform and I started to strip it down.

New plug, clean the carby. I've got spark and a fuel flow. The tanks a bit rusty inside and clutch is very stiff so I'll sort them before firing it up.

It will be a couple of weeks away yet. Riding the other bikes will take priority over working on this bike.

The SL won't be a restoration, it will just be a 'getting it going again' project.

My Wife likes it and found it easy to ride.
