For me, having internet 'friends' is fine, but I usually dont really know them.... and I value my privacy too much, and have enough trouble with 'friends'

So when you sign up for a new account with a web site, what do you do when filling out the details like name and email address, even physical address? Whether it's a shopping site or a social networking site?

depends. shopping websites will load your HD up with tracker cookies ot find out what you buy, if you buy from anyone else, how much you spend, when you spend it etc. this is called "market research" and enables them to target banner ads just for you.

but, if you're a cool motherfucker like me, and since you have bought a GSX i'd say you certainly are, use your real name, address etc, dont buy shit online, post heaps of contradictory shit in green and mention the silent black helicopters every now and then.
it keeps the CIB profilers on their toes...

(don't use "social networking sites" - go and get some real friends.)
if you must, get a fake email ie john smith at hotmail, direct all your FB &c accounts there to collect spam &c.
