Haha I have a date with a certain steep hill, if its in this year.
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

Good luck with that one mate, I remember last years effort on that but it was dry then... you taking a video this year?
Shame Mike's not there to do reverse wheelies again But I heard he's still got a KDX hidden for such an event!

Well that was great! congratulations to Scott and his crew. the weather was brilliant, I rolled in the gate just behind the organisers at 7.30am and was the first to sign in.

The boys from Possum Bourne Motorsport all turned up with their race quads- about 6 off them. that got me thinking...... Oh its obviously flat and fast out there...... WRONG!
The farmland quickly gave way to tight clay based single track up into the bushline- It was a 30 km loop and I found just one long A grade diversion into a vast area of felled pines with all the usual super steep loamy climbs, random bits of broken tree strewn randomly, errant stumps and a sloppy boggy stream crossings strewn with greasy logs. I left my ride till late in the day as I was gas-bagging with other riders in the pit area about my new 2013 Forza Pros. While I lolled around the pits in the sunshine I overheard stories from the returning riders after their first loop- Aside from the grumbles about the 'F%$#n Quad riders', what I was hearing were stories of uncontrolled slides at massive speeds down clay tracks in the pine trees!
After lunch - my bike had been test ridden by 3 or 4 different people - I got to experience these epic down hills. - yeehaa! even later in the day, these downhills were still wickedly fun. It was mental trying to regulate your speed down these endless descents.

I cant say enough how helpful the MR Motorcycle marshalls were. I watched how patiently they helped the pee wees, how they worked as a team to cram in the 600 plus cars and at the end of the day rode into the loop on quads and towed out all the broken Suzukis.
Retired- just some guy with a few bikes......

Was a good day for us (MR team), 732 riders I think was the final count.
No major injuries, despite the conditions, and some people ending up in some funny places..

The 3 expert deviations were kept closed until the end of the first loop, which was a good call.
One particular section became difficult enough to close off and bypass, suggesting it should have been an expert deviation to begin with.

Overall everyone was happy I think, and we look forward to the next one.

Yes that section, where there were multiple pile ups, crashes and people getting stuck, where we ended up putting in a short cut to avoid the traverse across the hill, because of people struggling.

Please don't ride over or through tape that's across the track. Some people are competent enough to ride the sections, others aren't. As I found when we re-swept that section after noticing the tape was down, to find one guy stuck in the fence, and another stuck in a hole. For your own safety, don't ride through closed sections, they aren't checked regularly after closed until the final sweep, often hours after they are taped off.

If you are caught riding through tape, you will be kicked off the ride.

    Sorry, rant over.

the truth is you should have followed the ride as marked, you had no idea why that was taped off, it could have been due to bringing a rider out that is injured, or something that could not have been fixed like a tree down or a slip, you got lucky as it was not one of those things,

Stick to marked trails, for your own saftey, and the saftey of event staff,
