thanks pete
looks awesome, will give it a whirl tonight![]()
The maker has done a runner, well more of a stumbler, you don't expect to be too sprightly in your 90's, without dropping one off.
Had cash waiting too. Even scribbled out the word "monopoly", do you have any idea how long that takes on $2 notes?
If the post extends 100mm past the bottom bearing, then the shaft should be good.
Then you need a 70mm or so tube attached instead of the post on the changing stand so the PB MKII fits down through the wheel and into it.
Having 2 posts for the PB MKII would be sweet. One for travel, one for home.
The post needs to be 14mm max dia for the TT350 front. The T7 changer is 16mm dia until you grind the threads off![]()
I've posted these up here somewhere before but it's worth repeating, like a good curry...
Not tools, but me likey...
used mine for the 1st time today, put a new rear on the Off-spring's bike,
found it quite hard to get the top side started, but I guess that comes with practice
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. (John 15:13)
FINALLY got around to using the PB Mk II today, just as a garage-based practise run on the rear since I had never yet changed it myself!
It really is a bloody handy tool, so cheers Pete
I managed to mark the rim slightly a couple of times getting the last couple of bites on, but I think that was me using it too close to the rim.
Incidentally, I wonder if the Freewind rear rim may be a bit different to that on the DR, as removal and refitting of the tyre went pretty OK (Fullbore M41) and I couldn't see the flange (or somesuch) inside the rim that I have read about on here being inside the DR650's.
So, I've been practising my tyre changes with varying degrees of exertion and success. Mostly I've been doing it with the tools I carry but yesterday afternoon I tried putting a 17" E-09 onto the back of the Freewind (which I think has the same rim as the DR). Holy cow, I'd still be there doing it now if it weren't for Pete's super tool.
So Pete - Thanks
I'm sure my technique could be improved, but meanwhile I am keeping my fingers crossed I don't have to fix that thing on a ride.
I've got an un used one of these tyre doohicky things if someone wants it ? I can't see myself using it as tyre levers seem to be working adequately. Flick me a p.m. for details
