I think if I had to stand by the side of the road for more than 5 minutes I'd wind up drowning.
Try wearing a kevlar covert stab vest too. We have to.

sorry man, but ya doing it all wrong IMHO... what you are doing will and does make SFA if any differance... if it does its cos illagle riders are staying off 75, hence numbers are down.
Where do most acco's happen? on the straights or sweepers where you patrol and pull... I wouldnt think so I'd think and of course I could well be wrong that most are in the hills where I dont think you patrol... like how can you its bloody hard to exceed 100k there, you might be able to bust out the dangerous or cearless... but then whos to say what that is.

Its still my belief you guys are out there more so for the locals benifit, of course I know saftey for all and bikers is a passion too.
Thing is using Mr last week end land on his arse as a example is not fair... you and me dont know him... yeah he may have been a acco waiting to happen, or he could be like me... with an excess of 300,000k under my belt plus many racing hours a lot on street circuts and after 27 years I arsed up on 75 (except 1 incdent on the track and thats a story on its own LOL) I cant find a reason as to why I went down, was doing everything "right" what ever that is... want to make a differance? talk to the experanced, my opion... well kiwi's always think they know it all are bullet proff and have to prove shit to others.. I know Im one... other thing is a MASSIVE lack of training, so many I follow, its just time...
Dude, sorry that we don't see eye to eye. Seriously.

What would you rather we do? What will make a difference? Remember not to suggest shit beyond my ability to do, like change laws etc. I'm not going to set up a motorcycle training school either, there are some good ones of those already.

Go on, what can a Sergeant and two Senior Constables to to make motorcyclists safer?

Happy to listen to positive suggestions.

Being out there on the road, making yourselves visabile at peck accident times, catching the stupid buggers who obviously have more balls than brains............wait, your doing that already!

High visability I think will be a help, maybe a cardboard cut out of a popo bike at the end of a corner, just at a point it can be seen for a couple of secs....a rider might think twice at attempting 150+ past that line of cars he had had to endure for the last 5 k's

No D, you're doing it all wrong, you're going about this all wrong, you're wrong and I have no good reasons why, except one, and that is because you're wrong.

Also most accidents happen on corners, this is a fact.

says he that only has race track corners to fall off on these days.........seen some fucking dumb assed riding on straight roads over the years Dave, mostly concerned with speed and overtaking to keep up with the faster riders by young fellas on stressed out sprot scooters..

My last one happened on a straight... a little embarrasing, but I've always maintained I hate straights...

1450 (I think) Harley with running boards forward controls etc., your classic Harley cruiser I guess. Yeah outcome was a shitter (he's broken his collarbone as well) we had a great day with some really nice riding and good company. Bugger.

My most serious crash ever happened on a straight piece of road at 50 km/h. No other vehicles involved either.

Think on this. If I had spoken to you unfortunate friend before his bin and asked him if he was a safe rider, and if he was going to crash, I'd get the same answer I'd get from virtually everybody. Yet crashes still happen.

Ride with caution dudes. I know biking is about freedom, but it's also about getting home unbroken.

Hope your man survives the encounter with his wife.
Funny thing is we were talking about exactly that before we set off and the guy is a real safe cruiser on the road. I am guessing he made a bad call on the corner - I didn't see and he can't remember a thing about the 3 hours before or during.

Meh. Dirt. If you're not having a wee rest at least once a ride you're not really trying.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon

I've crashed over 10 times, twice on a straight when a car pulled out infront of me, every other time on a corner.
