Kai, you've got an alright bike there. Just totally strip it down. Replace the worn bits (as you've already started to), re-visit the brake bias, master cylinders, shocks, and replace the complete wiring system. All of that is fuck all money. If it were me, I'd sandblast the bitch, and paint it all nice again. You'll see any nasty shit straight away, and you can take some action. You'll also get to know your machine better. And you can remove stuff that isn't being used. You can also replace the parts with COMMON items, not 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm bolts in all places - standardise the fucken thing!

Just to let you know. If that bike was brought up to scratch like in its heyday, it too would be doing 1:43's around Ruapuna. You'd be as fast as anyone down south on it.

You forgot the UNF and whitworth shit that creeps in....

That thing had a pretty good donk in it too in it's heyday - no reason it can't go that well again. From what I've seen of it a freshen up - just a valve grind,shims, a deglaze and some gaskets plus a carb synch would make quite a difference.

That thing had a pretty good donk in it too in it's heyday - no reason it can't go that well again. From what I've seen of it a freshen up - just a valve grind,shims, a deglaze and some gaskets plus a carb synch would make quite a difference.

Also a new cam chain would reduce about 75% of the top end noise.....

yea, as far as I know now its just a standard yzf thunderace motor which is the same as the fzr1000 I think. I have a complete spare fzr1000 as well as various cylinders,gearbox, cyl heads.. hope to build a complete second spare motor too.. then can really thrash it at the track

will get onto it. couple weeks off to recharge the bank acc..

It was all apart a while back when it had an overheating problem, not sure what was done to it at the time though
