Never been off road... Built by an adventure bike fanatic...

I guess he didn't say adventure riding fanatic, just adventure bike fanatic

It must suck spending $17K on on new bike & then having to bolt another $7K of crap on it to make it useful.

My experience with that model is that it badly needs less crap hanging off it, not more. I also seem to recall a couple of early ones for sale in Christchurch that went summat like "...40,000k's, full motor rebuild...".

An elephant has a lower centre of gravity than a Tenere

I don't know how many there are left in New Zealand. A few DR750s still around, I know that.

The DR800s? I know of one at least, that sold on Trade Me the other day.....

    To Me.....

Went to look at it today and ride it as well.....I will pick it up Saturday, looks like it will be a trailer job though as there is a lot of extras to come back home...Shit, it was great to get back on a Big! I realise my best riding was on that DR750s, loved it.....Comfortable all day riding, big Kms and really trouble free.

Actually, if I can rent a mate for an early start, I won't need a trailer. He could drive my ute home and I could ride...

Riaan VAN NIEKERK - Dakar 2013

Can't see much of the motor or the bike but this recent pic of Riaan VAN NIEKERK in the 2013 Dakar looks pretty cool to me. (Probably a lot hot for him though! )

There were lots of great pics came out of the race.
