Both of which are twice the car 'your' MX5 will ever be.

Yup! The Kizashi is nearly as quick around corners and "most" riders are very slow out there. Only the KB select few are good...
Compered to a Lambo or other "real sports car" ,,,it's expensive ?

Mate I could afford one new or old,,,that actually makes it CHEAP.

it did what it did,,or does for a price.

Not knocking it for what it is,,,but it's affordability means that compearing it to the more excepted "sports cars" which are "Very expensive" is one of those apples to apples things,,,,,that's all.

I won't say when,,but I had a Ford Capri once,,,,never came across a bike that could stay with it in the twistys.

If I see a particular type of car in the mirrors now days I'll often pull over,,,,just to admire the view you understand.

In my street lives an AMG Merc., a Maserati, a mint Model A and their visitors arrive in Bentley's and Ferrari's. Harley's and Gold Wings and a couple of sports bikes are here and attract their own visitors...

We get a lot of positive attention in the MX5 cruising around but may be more to do with Mrs. Bear's blonde hair the wind...

That's a dumb comparison. Lambo's and Ferrari's aren't sports cars, they're in a class called "super-cars" because they're insanely expensive, stupidly fast and pretty exclusive. In my book, there are "cars", "sports cars", "performance cars", "luxury cars", "super cars" and "hyper-cars". Then you get all the sub categories like hot rods, classics, muscle cars, exotics and the like. An MX5 or MR2/MR-S fits into the sports car definition at the lower end of the scale with a Lotus Elise in the midde somewhere and a standard 911 or Aston DB9/DBS towards the top. That's like comparing a Timex to a Tag Heuer.

The big plus with it was/is the incredible steering and handling which was up with any car of any price. Even at 19 years old, our Mk1 is fabulous to drive and at 187,000km can still be driven at the redline in total confidence. No rust and the soft-top is original. Gearbox is sweet and diff is silent. All I've done is replace the rear suspension due to a warn damper. Cost me $160 all up for both sides complete struts fitted! Not new of course but good units from Ross at MX5 Mart.

If I realised owning a MX5 attracted so many bozos wanting to spout their particular brand of fuckwittery attitude accompanied by their equally inane comments I would have bought one years ago - nay, bought a half dozen of them!

Obviously people who have owned them for years know nothing about them at all... But KB is the place for expert opinion based on ignorance...
