Car market is flooded with these old American cars. Cunts have gone crazy on importing them, cunts still think they're worth big money, look at all the dreamers on trademe whose listings are over a year old for 60s Impalas, Tbirds, El caminos, Silverado pick ups or Mustangs. I suppose I'm fortunate enough to own one worth pouring a bit of money into, 56 hardtop rust free, picked her up for fuck all, I probably wouldn't bother if it was a 4dr.

I guess its value is in its low-mileage originality...but 44K is pushing it.

And yeah, Mustangs are ten a penny - yet on TM they seem to be asking the earth for very ordinary models. (Hence why I bought the Thunderbird instead of a 'stang).

See, they didn't make many of them, about 25% of original Mustangs had the six, and 25% of those had manual boxes. I reckon most of the original six cylinder manual box Mustangs have also been converted with V8s and autos being dropped into them - so there wouldn't be many left in their original configuration.

I'd be driving something pretty rare. Well driving it only when I wasn't riding my bike.
Never ever heard of the 200 being referred to as a 'Windsor' - that was reserved for the V8 and mainly used to differentiate between them and the 'Cleveland' model of the same capacity but with different block/head etc.

And if the 200 had a a 4-speed behind it? - the gearbox would actually be a MK3 Zephyr unit, known as the 'Dagenham" box.

It's a big turbo to, not a little baby t25 or something. So am I doing the whole not boring car thing right? I need to get the rambler with the 327ci going to tow it with so I can be more of a wanker in the eyes of environmentalists everywhere.
Jebus Crumbs, a BB1-4 Poolude with a mid mounted motor? That's odd, I love odd

There are many that can do it. But it held the record up to '91... it's a spastic bit of kit that.
I think the record was 12.4 sec?

The 3rd gen 6 had the same bell housing as a Windsor, does that count?

I'm a big fan of the 911 C4S over most muscle cars. Hoping to get one as my next ride if I can get the $$ together. Its not as quick or in your face as what I've got now and the last 911 I took out for a drive was a bit "meh" and an absolute arsehole magnet with people trying to drag me out, overtake me or just rubberneck (I guess you get used to that), but I just love them. I've got a version 10 STI at the moment which isn't that special but I've always liked how ugly they are while still being an uncompromising...if you want soft suspension or to have it in automatic you can fuck off...drivers car. They got a bit hatchbacky and stupid after my model so I'm kind of stuck where I am for now.

Thing is Duclover, the AC is normally aspirated (carbs only), most modern high performance cars are turbo-ed/supercharged/injected with computer ignition etc management. Most 'supercars' of today are only just using the 5-600bhp mark. I'd also put the Cobra as a lot more 'reliable' engine wise than a lot of the exotica produced today due to it's 'simplistic' design.
I think Shelby did a 'super Cobra' that produced around 900bhp using a modern engine package as a 'development exercise'.
Superformance do a Cobra replica that can be made to produce around 800bhp...

Now if we can just persuade Ed to bung a 500bhp V8 in his MX5??

The other thing is, modern cars weigh far, far too much.
I like the design of the Cobra, it's right up my alley. Unfortunately, they're a metal, face ripping, anus splitting, neck snapping, metal issues introducing crazy thing to drive with big power. I'd happily own one because of that
I'm a tiny bit familiar with old, simple motors too, I threw a spanner at one once... Even young 'uns can know the very basics

If Ed had the requisite bucket of gold he might be tempted but when the Ford GT335 is actually making over 500hp "stock" I would prob just buy one of those...

All cars weigh far far too much. In fact, so do most bikes.

Heck I'll turn this into a Twostroke thread yet.

I'm happy with my Nissan Terrano 4x4 (tows the boat, has a stereo, carries shit) ... plenty of bikes I'd have instead of another thing with four wheels.

I need another Trials bike. Far more exciting that a pusy car.

If I wanted to go silly an aircooled YZ250 would be cool.

I know how he feels (I had to sell my Trials bike for that reason), but I bet he started with a whole lot more than me.

Makes you wonder (if he has indeed run out) how guys like that can get it so wrong.

Can't see why else he'd be selling them. I mean...Kawasaki MX bikes are what made him what he is if you know what I mean. Can't see Mick Dohan ever selling off his NSRs!
