Yep, I'm pushing 300hp with intents to go 400 at the wheels. It's all double wishbone with fancy coil overs etc as well. I just leave it looking like a sack of shit because I've already rolled it once. 90% chance this thing is going to have a phenomenal whoopsie in the rallies at some point.

This guy is a good representation of the kind of person I like. Wood drink beer with.

EDIT: Lol I just saw the thread on this, shit's everywhere. Why aren't I famous for my 327 in my RX7 :<

Nup, just acknowledging ya need 4 wheels every now and then and there's stuff out there that will put a smile on your face. The vids of the "F-bomb" Camaro "cruising" the streets had a bunch of us 40-50 something blokes in our offshore control room giggling like school boys as we cranked up the external speakers on our "work use only" PC.

here's few spec's from the 'de-tuned' 427 so allow another 50-150 bhp for an SC and C spec car.

Fuel: system Single four-barrel Holley carburetor (four twin choke down draught Weber carburetors optional)
    Maximum power '427' 425 bhp @ 6,500rpm; '428' 390 bhp @ 5,200rpm
    Maximum torque '427' 480 lb ft @ 3,500rpm; '428' 475 lb ft @ 3,7OOrpm
Bhp per litre. '427' 60.8 (1.0 bhp per cu in); '428' 55.8 (0.91 bhp per cubic inch)
    Unladen weight 2,350lb (1,066kg)
Power-to-weight ratio 405.l bhp per ton
    Performance Maximum speed 165mph (265kph)
    0-60mph (0-96.5kph) 4.2 seconds
    0-100mph (0-161kph) 10.3 seconds
    Standing -mile 12-4 seconds

So allowing Shelby's 'Super Snake (personal one of 2 road legal 800bhp cars he made), was clocked at 3.4 seconds 0-60mph and over 180mph top speed....... not many modern sprotbike's would take out a C spec car from the lights. And there are a few Replica 'C' spec cars or higher floating around, just dont know of, or seen any in NZ.

I love my bikes, I dont own a car, but I'd own a Cobra and always show a bit of respect due to what was first car 'equivalent' of a bike. As pointed out the Cobra held the 0-100-0mph record for almost 30 yrs and it wouldnt have been till the mid 80's with the ZX10/GSX1100 (originals) that 2 wheels matched it's performance in the 'detuned' roadster spec.... and that took almost 25yrs to do it.

i know its eye of the beholder stuff, but comparing a shelby to a pure production bike is hardly a true comparison. just sayin

    Agreed, but then,,,, there's alway's a 'BUT'

the modern 'production' bike's state of tune is so high, anything 'newer' than my 20yr old ZZR1100 is faster than the 'race bikes' Kenny Roberts and Barry Sheene rode, so I dont think it is an 'unfair' comparison when looking at 900cc+ sprotties.

The main point of the thread is 'why drive boring cars, and that an AC is a 'boring car'?

Yeah, too true... you'd need to spend at least $12000 for a high km one... CBR1000RR 2008, 2.99 0-100km/hr. S1000RR faster again but more money. I assume all modern thous will do it in under 3.4 though. It obviously halls arse after the 60ft mark, but a thou will dominate it up to its top speed (assuming you'd be game enough to take the SC that quick anyway) and then just leave it behind.

Still a ghey 'car' though... that 1500hp Camaro might be over powered, but at least it still has a roof!

From memory a UK mag tested the 05-06 ZX10 doing 0-186mph limiter in 28 or 29sec.
    0-100mph was a smidge under 6 sec I think.
0-60mph really isn't a test for a thou, a big fat car will launch faster, that's a test for a VMX which is impossibly quick to 60mph

And, most cars that are runnning in the sub 3.5 sec range do so with trans destroying launch control

    Sure if you want.

It's a 91, running a quadcam 3 litre from a lexus and a celica S53 gearbox with taller ratios. I actually dragged it out after not driving it for 2 years last night. Washed it, set up the subwoofer properly and got the in dash TV working right. It's a VERY fun car and sounds the absolute tits on mountain backroads. Been ages since I've taken a pic, these are probably 2 years old. Has different lights, wheels, bumper and stuff now.

    Science fact, I love purple.

I can't do that specifically but in my old mr2 I cleared an earth moving tyre once, I've launched it a good 15 feet off the ground at full tit, rolled it a couple times; landed so hard once the engine almost got torn out of the chassis; that was because I convinced myself not to be a softcock and backoff for a big jump on a long straight which was a regrettable decision. I have a 1984 mkI with a 3sgte celica turbo motor stuffed up the rear that I made the standalone engine management for in my bedroom one week from a base circuit board.

I'm trying to get a better in car camera together for the prelude, more than likely to document my demise.
