    Spark arrestors and fire extinguishers?

Thinking about heading to The Sandpit once my arms right, how do I know if my bike has a spark arrestor? Ive got a full Pro Circuit system on my KDX200.

I can see the spec of fire extinguishers but where do you put them? Mount to the bike or in a back pack? And I presume you need the same spec one for other trail rides? Ive seen a few bikes with them mounted to the front guard, is that the best place?

we used to carry them on our backs but then my brother and law hurt his back when landing on one in a crash, so we mount them on the front guard now, they can go on teh handle bars as well,

your pro circuit will not have spark arrestor,

Just make a temporary spark arrestor out of wire mesh, like everyone else does when told they need a SA.
I taped a small sieve over my muffler to pass SA test for an enduro once, no issues at all with that.
we may just go where no ones been

Oh I see. Does it have to go at the end of the pipe? I took it from the photo of the one that fits my pipe it went in the join between the pipe and the muffler.

But new to this so probably wrong.

That would work, but the test for a SA is normally to stick a screw driver down the end of the muffler, and if it stops, its ok. Otherwise you would need a sticker from the muffler manufacturer stating it was a SA.

Do the extinguishers have to be a specific type?

A 1kg dry powder would be OK a better question would be if they are required to be tagged & in date? they should be pressure tested every 5 years the date of manufacture which is usually stamped around the base with 1kg's its more economical to replace it rather than get it pressure tested after the 5 years .

300g is right. Pretty cheap to buy. The regs requiring testing are for commercial premises. Privately you can hang your extinguisher on your wall forever.

I sell the full range of fire protection equipment but you can probably get cheaper 300g extinguishers from Bunnings or Mitre 10. In some cases I can't compete with cheap Chinese stuff bought in bulk by the chain stores. Although all fire extinguishers must meet the NZ standards to be sold here.

Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!
