Its time to upgrade the yz250f. I m a 105kg 6ft 4in confident intermediate MX/Trial rider. I have owned a 450 and felt it had to much power for me, but the 250 is getting tapped out more often now. Therefore I'm pretty keen to go for the 350. Anyone had experiences or thoughts?

Ive ridden an XC350 and found the power just to be really useable, not too much and not too little, it handled fantasticly aswell. I'd have one.

What year/make 450 did you have? I think the new efi 450s are more manageable than their carb'ed predecessors.

All 450s are insane i cant belive people can ride those things hahahaha i jumped on a 2009 yzf250 and i thought it was a 450 .... the 350xcf is my dream bike they look amazing to

Well I did it!! New 2013 350 SFX arriving tomorrow!! Thanks for the feedback. The issues experienced in both the 2011 and 2012 models seem to have been ironed out. Power ratio is much better especially at the bottom end and they have managed more power throughout. Overall Im stoked and really looking forward to riding a bike that wont scare the bejezus out of me when I get a little loose or a 250 that struggles with my 105kg frame (Although I have been more than happy with the YZ250F). Just got to ride it in a little before tussock buster. Happy days!!!

True, though my sxf 250 has 70 odd hours and no fork seal leakage, heck nothing really done to it short of oil/air filter and grease.

The fuel tank filter sock is a good thing, as is replacing fuel filters.

I always start mine in neutral to conserve battery, but never came close to running it flat.

Only other thing is unlike belray the ktm air filter oil does require you to let it dry out

I only said I'd have one, If I was signing papers you know it would be for the xc250 2t.

Not much point me adding my feedback, being that you've bought the bike already, other than to say well done!

I'd love to try a '13 though, if there is one criticism I can level at my '11 is that is does lack a little in bottom end power. It's not gutless and doesn't struggle, just it doesn't really wake up until it's in the thick of the midrange, from then on it's got all the power I need (just over 100kg myself).

I've had the forks revalved for trail riding, they were too harsh standard (rear is fine though) and I did have a few factory recalls (valve stem seals, gearbox bearing and handlebar clamps), plus a dying fuel pump (although I think I was ripped off, pretty sure it was just a blocked fuel filter), but it is an awesome trail bike.

The thing I love most about it is that it never bites, I have never have that "oh shit, I'm going to die!" feeling, which I would get several times a ride with my old RM and some of the 450s I've ridden. It's the perfect bike for the average rider, who isn't the fittest, doesn't ride 3 times a week and won't ever be troubling the really fast guys on a track or enduro loop.

Cheers for the feedback, although I already got it, you have confirmed some things I'm feeling with mine. Front end defiantly to hard, did tussock buster and experienced the worst head shake and the back of my shoulders were knackered. I think the power issues have been sorted somewhat, the power is defiantly there instantly, in fact that took a little getting used too as the 450 (Maybe just age) felt alot more sluggish at bottom end. Overall I love the power range and looking forward to getting forks done. Most importantly I got the instant feeling that this bike is going to be alot of fun.
