But until you get new handle bars, try lowering the ones you have. You just need to loosen those three screws in the center of the handlebar and then it move down. You can put them even lower than mine. Try different settings and then stick with what you feel most comfortable with.

Not original I'm pretty sure no. The Chinaman I bought the bike from in November told me the owner previous to him changed the tyres at the end of 2008 or something. BUT the front and rear tyres are different, not even from the same manufacturer?! So yea they're at least 5-6 years old.

About the price of a couple of tanks of gas in the Ginnie. As long as you have someone help select & fit them some lower rise bars will be cheap & easy. rotating the std bars are just going to put you in an even odder position.

I changed the bars on my bike, but only so I could have manlier ones with factory heated grips. Screw you, back!

Yeah . it looks exactly like a car tyre .. get a decent bike one .. it will make the bike handle better.

Bars are not that expensive ... but fitting them might be ... if it's a bolt-off/bolt-on job then it's only time and a half-way decent amateur can help you ... if the cables need to be shorter then it will start to cost you ... because you will need new cables etc ..

After having a go on bosslady's GN the other day I want a screen, too. Makes sitting on highway speed so much easier. I have to pretty much lie on my tank at anything over 80kph on my bike.

Any requirement to lean forward is dependent on the bike. I wouldn't suggest moving your body mass backwards on a gn as it would put you out of wack with the footpeg position, decreasing control and the ability to lock onto the bike. Keeping your arse above the footpegs tends to put you in the right position automatically.
Cruisers with forward controls are obviously an exception.

I do that on the road...
Even been up where the pillon sits when I had the CB.
Does nothing but ease the numb arse and give the legs a bit of stretch...its a GN, the often used term ''getting under the paint'' wont make any difference where this bike is concerned, it is not a track/race bike is it?
I am more impressed with her head position whilst cornering, shows why she is out there in the first place.
