So someone gets told "Don't light a cigarette around this machine - it could be dangerous" and someone gets told "Don't compromise your stability when it's of critcal importance to you".

    Where's the difference?

^^ Even though Katman is playing fun police he does have a point,

To say he doesn't would probably have to come under a heading like.. "Some people just have to learn the hard way"..

As usual, he has inside information nobody else has. He knows all about oxygen machines in hospital and he knows better than the staff who were there. He knows exactly what was said, what instructions were given and why the idiot lit up.

As always his ego gets in the way of the facts and he remains true to his presumptive self.

A gold star from Katman! What a recommendation! Either you are as naive as he is or he totally missed your point...

But you're suggesting that knowing smoking around the O2 tank was dangerous is stupid if you smoked around the O2 tank,

But popping a wheel stand knowing you could over cook it, lose control, set it down wrong, someone cut you off etc is fine to do so long as you know that?

Cool! The day I get a Gold Star from you I will either have completely lost the plot or you will have become the opposite of who you are.

I've known a few muppet bikers to check the fuel level in their tank with a cigarette lighter (or match) ... with varying results.

But motorcycling is dangerous. The risks we choose to take ... are up to US.

As was the risk ... the subject of this thread took.

It didn't end well for him ... nor does it always end well for us ...

Perhaps true, but the article didn't actually say that Ed.

Having been in several hospitals for various reasons over the last 30 years or so, including within the last six months, when I read, "all the proper warnings were given," I think it is reasonable to infer they didn't just tell him once. Especially if he was a smoker.
