Roys Hill, Final Round, North Island Series 2012/13. Easter weekend

Oh man, what a weekend, what a cool track!
We drove back to Auckland after prize giving and I fell asleep in the car about 8pm... luckily the old man was driving.

Massive thanks to Steve for organising the series and for putting up with us taking over his house, absolute legend you are mate Huge thanks to everyone who adds to the event in support, you keep the series going!

There were some awesome battles with Rick and Reagan usually way up the field from everyone else. Regan got the best time of 38.480s

p.s. I crashed in b grade qualifying/practice, although I did set my best time of the weekend. I couldn't back it up during the racing, probably should have been in b grade really based on my times.

Come on peps was gutted I could not make it so need to know the details. Footage?

Regan win 1st up, then Rick got the next, with Regan having a massive off, 3rd race went to Regan again, Rick getting a solid second. Scottie picked up enough good points all day to take that precious 3rd spot off you I'm afraid, he was the first in the day to crack under 40 seconds, but I could be wrong but I think Regan has set another track record? 38 seconds ish?

Footage in a couple of hours or less of the first A-Grade race, BIG crash down the front straight, you won't miss it.

Here are all the results from both a(left) and b(right), grids, races and individual lap times. Very very cool track!! I really hope that the resource consent issues can be sorted so there can be lots more racing there

Not that it matters, but I paid my $20 for the transponder so... Race 3 I actually finished in 7th on the 20th lap just in front of Tyler and the 1.21 lap was actually two laps.

Other than that, pretty easy and cool having transponders and getting to see the official lap times!! Awesome!!

I might have had a similar thing happen in my 3rd B-Grade race, actually went down a lap after offing at the first corner, lap timings suggest otherwise, not to worry it was all a load of fun and look forward to seeing this GP in action. I might be on the reserve bench at silly mid-off though, with my camera me thinks.

RDJase had the same in the last B Grade race on my bike, finished a close 2nd, but the timing gear said he finished 6th and 2 laps down. Good seeing lap by lap and fastest lap etc...

Bypassing the timing loop on the grass TWICE didnt help it

Had a blast, cheers for the bike Grant Definatly blew the cobwebs out, 1st time on a bike in a year

I pulled it down today, Its been detonating, cooked the little end and smashed the big end cage. other than that its fine. Gunna have to burn some midnight oil to make the gp but I will be there on something.

Another great weekend away with the Bucket crew !! Thanks to everyone who made it happen. Great to catch up with people and meet more cool bucket racers.

Had some drama on Saturday when two of the rivets in a main bearing cage went for a wander around the top of the piston - result being pinched ring and bits stuck in the piston crown and head

Lucky for me, the locals offered all kinds of assistance to get me running ( this is happening way too much, but greatly appreciated )

I had a spare piston with me and was given a new bearing ( and work space ) to use by RD Jase.
Thanks to a heap of help from Koba with repairing broken engine mounts and removing and refitting the engine I was running again for Sunday morning

Unfortunately the mudbug cried enough again Sunday morning - I thought it had seized but I just pulled the head off and all is happy there

Cant explain why there are two broken cylinder base studs on the left side though but that does explain why it would not start

So, a bit of work to do before the GP...

I'm not alone; bloody two strokes.
I think I found the over heating and slipping clutch problems; thick chunky yoghurt in the gearbox (actually all round; in radiator, gearbox, catch bottle and all over my boots).
so no surprise she got to 135 degrees in the 20 lapper; but she hung in there and didn't seem to do any significant damage (though shes not completely stripped yet)...

Ken, you might want to check if your cylinder and top of crankcase is square; it might be a little out of alignment (after welding) which might be just be putting undue load on certain parts if not 100% (interesting/frustrating that LHS studs went as well as the LHS bearing)...

It was only 1 and a half zillion. I never saw the over rev light come on. Nothing time and money cant fix - unfortunately im short of one and very short of the other.
