    Yamaha FZR400RR LAMS?

    Hey everyone,

Looking at buying a Yamaha FZR400RR and wanted to just make doubly, triply sure that it was actually LAMS approved. The NZTA website shows that the FZR400 is LAMS approved but I wanted to make sure the RR model was also approved, is anyone able to shed some light on this?

    Thank-you!

Check the rego. If it's an import you'll probably find the 'RR' part missing anyway.

Remember, it has to be unmodified. After market pipe is all it takes.

The FZR400RR was a later and completely different generation of the model. MORE HP (an extra 20 ponies from memory)than the first of the FZR400's ... put it (well) out of the LAMs class.

Wow what a dick this guy is then, he's claiming it is LAMS approved on the TradeMe advert (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=587906334) and is starting to play games. I said I couldn't go above my maximum price range, he said a dude just made an offer of my price etc do I want to beat it and now apparently the dude has renegotiated so he'll let me have it still.

He seemed so legitimate until this point (this just happened). But glad you guys helped on the LAMS thing, I was a little skeptical as it seemed well too fast IMO but thought it might've been good to go under the new laws.

Thanks again guys, saved me there!!

It had an aftermarket exhaust can which would have made it non compliant anyway ...

As a self diagnosed FZR addict I can tell you that this bike would be loads of fun. I got alot of love for FZR's and this one looks exceptionaly tidy.
To bad it aint lams compliant because you would have a shitload more fun on it than your 250

Haha I'm sure I would have, but that's kinda the point of having LAMS approved bikes! Thanks for the heads up about after market exhausts though, this isn't the case for every bike, correct? 250s are allowed after market exhausts etc?

Yes ... but why bother. 400's make more power as standard. Be patient and keep watching out ...

Haha just wanting to double check; trying to get my head around these new LAMS laws. Yeah I'm keeping my eyes out like a damn fox, trying to find something as I'm wanting a bike as soon as possible!

I think the price and condition of that Katana are pretty good.
