Personally, I wouldn't push it, but that is based on my own lack of "luck"...

I'd agree, but I fear I might have no choice but to take the chance as I won't have the time between my studies finishing and when we take off for Dunners, as I wouldn't want to rush myself before hand, just in case I cock it up etc.

I might see if I can before hand, as I'm a bit uneasy about driving 1000+ km with an uncertain cambelt. Granted I'd have to be very unlucky for it to snap.

You could call a local dealer and ask the service manager. He won't tell you it will be okay of course, but if that model has a particular rep for busting belts if not changed on time and whether the engine is a non-interference one.

How hard is it to inspect? Not foolproof but if you can't see any frayed edges or cracks I'd be a deal more comfortable taking it the length of the country.

I have heard one or two stories on forums of them going, but I don't think they're prone to it.

Though when they go = bent valves lol.

The main one easy to inspect and from what I can see it looked ok, the exhaust ones on the other hand are covered and have not seem them yet. But thanks for the tip, I'll hopefully get a chance to take a peak of them this weekend if time allows.

I'll be posting photos and asking you guys for advice

BUT an XK8 convertable is presently my target vehicle, hence the 3.8m wide carport entrance.

I do rather fancy this old beasty, but (I'm strange) I think I'd rather the Morris/Austin version.

This wee fella is not BL, not even close, but I've always liked them http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=590692941
Good ones are hard to find and they command pretty decent prices here great to drive though.

    And, of course

Looks to be a fairly honest wee thing
