Long range forecast fine, windy, and rain Sunday. Just another normal Brass. West Coast will rain the whole duration plus more.

Wow, did you see that?
Deja vu I think.
Must be a glitch in the Matrix.

Windiest...brass monkey...everrrrr.....
Roads closed all over the place, cops stopping folks and giving them bacon sarnies and hot drinks while they wait on the side of the road at Omakau for the wind to die down.
Apparently bikes off the road all over the place.
I managed to sneak home 'round a back road...there's no wind here but it's bucketing down.
There were tents flattened all over the place last night and embers flying all over the place...there'll be tons of newly leaky tents now.
The fire brigade turned up around 1am to put the bonfire out and the organisers went 'round the site putting out the drum fires.
The band had to stop early because of the wind.
It blew without stopping all night and probably still is.

Just got in.
My dome tent got flattened by the wind, broke a couple of poles. We didn't have too much trouble getting out over the pig route but I was on the sidecar.
Just another leather clad Tinkerbell.
The Wanker on the Fucking Harley is going for a ride!
My first brass.Copy 'windy as fuck'.
Got a faceful of tent in the middle of the night, tent's fibreglass poles were bending into an 'S' with the gusts, didn't break thankfully (I borrowed it!).
Waited til 9.40 to get on the road. Even still, bike was doing an awesome Costa Concordia impression on the way into Ranfurly. Grabbed coffee, headed back out an hour-ish later and it was much better after then - windy but not gusty.
Good fun, peculiar weather, I plan to be back (sans L plates) next time!
Costa Concordia <- most of the way back to Chch
I was VERY glad to see the "Christchurch" sign.
And a big thanks to Flip and Mrs Flip for their Hospitality on Fri nite.

I was a support vehicle this year so for first time walked into the Rally, but still had a great time.
This one will be remembered for the gale force winds, so here's my wind memories:
The wind creating back-draughts in the long drop dunnies.
Sparks from the drum fires landing on the 'down wind" tents.
Alloy tent poles are much more resilient to wind than fibreglass poles.
The band playing Led Zeppelin as the stage was rocking from the wind.
The sound of the big wind gusts coming across the valley - it sounded like a quake coming.....
Did I mention it was windy?
