I would be careful what you admit to if you are looking at making an insurance claim. Car in front of you but well ahead starts braking hard in the merge area so you go past him on the left and somehow slip in to the 'gap' between him and the vehicle he was trying not to hit? Good skills.

If they were bent as far as 10 degrees they'd probably not have been recoverable. As they were, I can tell you that it takes quite a bit of experience, some reasonably expensive tooling and several hours to do that job. The price sounds fair.

Just call your insurer.
If you aren't insured, write down your version of the circumstances, add that you consider it to be her fault and post or e-mail it to her.
Keep calling until she makes a claim.
Edit: I just read your description. You're almost certainly at fault.
