Stalking.
1 To post wankie videos on boobtube ... (big egos)
2 To dob in other road users they consider to be breaking the law ... (big egos with anger/control issues)
3 To sell the footage to Ewen Gilmore ... (big egos with the eye on the money)

I stand by this but thanks for the green rep. I've been around for a few years now and even in my car while I've seen quite a few dodgy things I've never seen so much extreme stuff to warrant a camera, though times are changing for sure. I wonder if some of us are in these kind of situations frequently, if we are perhaps part of the problem.
Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.
It will be useful in apportioning blame at your inquest.

Never leave home without mine.
When you have been hit by a drunk driver and left lying on the road, broken, bleeding, unconscious and unable to talk...the camera can provide some light into what may have happened.
If you ever have a accident, you can submit the video to the insurance company to clarify what happened
But mostly, it keeps people honest!...other drivers, popo, boy racers etc etc see the camera, and realise there actions are being recorded! (And so are your own actions!)...Ive had boy racers pull up beside me and heard "nah nah bro...LOOK!..camera!", and ive had popo pull me over for mistaken identity (red bike speeding)..quick check of the camera footage...on my way with a thank you.
So while some on here can joke about interweb heros posting there footage etc (It happens), some of us just have them for personal safety and possibly like me, to review there own riding for mistakes etc to improve there chances of survivial on NZ's roads...it comes down to the individual.
So it may well seem "abit weird" to the OP, but maybe the OP just needs some more experiance and time on bikes to understand that the "daily commute"...is quite possibly the most dangerous ride of them all, hence some of us use everything at our disposal to ensure we get home to our family safe n sound at the end of the day...or worst case, we leave something that can speak for us...if we can't!
oh...PS. Does the OP realise that objects may appear closer in there mirrors?...just seems its not the first time issue's with tailgaters have been raised

Some situations we find ourselves in are definitely out of our control that we've been forced into through no fault of our own, but I would hedge a bet that most of the time if we find ourselves in an unfavourable position and this seems to happen fairly frequently, then we are probably at least in part to blame. I'm not 12, I'm in my late 20's and like I said I've seen and experienced the odd act of dangerous or inconsiderate driving but nothing extreme enough to warrant using a camera. Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticising, if someone wants to do that with their time then no problem why should I care, still think its odd though and a little time consuming (call me lazy) however if I ever have an accident or anything where footage could have or would have been useful then perhaps my thoughts may change. So, I don't take the "needs more experience on bikes etc.". There's been times where I have come close to getting in trouble, most of which were self created. And I don't know what you're talking about I don't think I've posted about tailgaters before, you must be thinking of someone else. And yes, he was tailgating me but then, I like to keep a good distance between myself and other vehicles and the following distance I see some motorcyclists keeps really makes me shake my head.
