Canterbury Wednesday Night Ride

Yes super day thanks to all, you're good company. Gareth you rock. Was prettty chilllly, roads were awesome and no wind Kaikoura coast magical with a big powerful swell, managed to oggle that and stay on the road. Need a helmet cam. Wow our country is beautiful. Highly recommend the mussels at The Adelphi mmmmm. Looking forward to next ride already, am allowed to take the Other bike

Was heading south in a cage and saw you lot heading up the coast,
Funny, the tail end charlie was going rather rapid.......
Good to see you guys out there doing it and felt for you when I saw the rain as I headed north again at 3pm.

It was a good trip. A few too many horse floats on the road but they didn't cause us too many issues. The rain coming back was pretty awful. I was cold in my gear and seriously considering stopping to put my wets on but I figured I was almost home. I felt really sorry for EJK in his jeans.

See you all next time. I won't be there next week, I have work and and engagement party to go too. I should be floating about the week after for a ride if the weather behaves. I was thinking of heading to Arthur's pass. Either there or Hanmer. I'd like to see some snow.

Suspect you won't have to go as far as Arthurs Pass or Hanmer to see snow this week. As destinations for the next ride they sound good.
But yes, a nice ride up to Kaikoura. That BLT was pretty good.

Finished doing test hits on the DR and need to take it for a longer run who's up for a ride this weekend not sure where to go since all of the bad weather has left snow, slips and flooding around.
I do know I don't want to leave to early because it's too frigging cold and temps are only starting to come up about 10:30am.

Change of plans since the Ashley River Bridge is out and closed until further notice.

How does Methven sound go out via Old West Coast Rd, Waddington, Glentunnel Route. Meeting point Z Petrol Station, 32 West Coast Rd, Yaldhurst it's the one just past the round-about in the 70k zone.
Meet up at 11am leave 11:30 not sure what day Sat or Sun both look fine at this stage.

Hey you need to check this out... it's the Ashley River bridge closure info (Cones Road, Rangiora)

Basically the Ashley river bridge between Rangiora and Loburn is closed, it is the one that lost some supports last week.
You may have to track out to SH1 to cross from Rangiora to get to Loburn or ford the river.

The Blue Pub at Methvin has nice food... but don't think you'll see me at this time.
