That particular BMW of yours sounds worse than others and 7 times in for warranty repairs kind of sounding like a lemon.
Only time the Transalp let me down was following a service when the workshop didn't tighten the valve covers or similar. Transalp did 48000 without missing a beat, KTM 640 I had for 12000km with out issue - not even a puncture.

Yeah, a derivative of the 650 single that's been around for yonks but now apparently manufactured under licence in China? It's had a persistent oil leak from the LH cover that drips onto the exhaust. First two fixes were replacing gaskets (drop it off to have a look at and decide whats required, then drop it off again when parts have arrived) Last time it was in I was told that they were known for having a problem with the water pump seals - dunno why that wasn't checked out the first couple of times if its a known problem and save a lot of mucking around....

I'm over this bike - it didn't light my fire. As a result of the problems I've been reluctant to take it on any lengthy trips so have done bugger all riding. I'm over getting wet and muddy too. The next bike will be a more road focused soft roader for two up touring in comfort.

there's a guy down here with the same model as yours Tim & he's having the same issues as you, he's had the bike for 10 months & it's been back in the shop 5 times, I suggested he asked for his $$$ back & buy some thing else

Should be quite within your rights. Consumer guarantees, MVDI,MTA etc. give it a go if its not fit for purpose.

Personally I'd wait for the 1800 version to come out
