I think people are getting confused about what's legal for the Police, and what's legal for the Defence Forces. Military Law outlaws hollowpoints, but last I checked the cops aren't soldiers.

The Hague Convention of 1899 (and subsequently the Geneva Convention) forbade the use of expanding, deformable bullets in wartime. Military "Ball" ammunition is used.

Our lot are such useless shots that I hardly think that matterrs .. my feeling is that if a New Zealand police officer is pointing a gun at you you have a very low chance of getting shot ...

I have to spread myself round before giving it up for you again. But it'll be totally worth it.

I seem to recall some admiration for the abilities of the one that shot the Taranaki golf club raider

Try that theory in Taranaki, so far they've proven to be pretty good.

Remember, NZ Police get supplied by whoever can supply the cheapest product when a tender goes out.

And once the cheap training ammo was sorted they are reliable as clockwork, easy to use and compact. And not bad accuracy for the intended purpose - better than the Model 7 was.
