AK47? You're dreaming. Its called AK47 because thats when it was designed. Sure it is cheap as chips to manufacture, reliable as anything and all that but it is inaccurate compared to modern weapons, and has some issues around barrel rise that modern weapons don't have. Plus the ammunition is large and heavy and due to that you have limited mag size.
Plus it has old style "long gun" architecture.
We like modern guns: I present to you the FN P90: 50 round mag at 5.56 x 23 mm is enough to fuck you and your friends up, light, short but long enough barrel and tested to be accurate out to 600m IIRC.

source: If I told you I'd have to kill you. OK I play a lot of COD Black Ops. Its the same, right?
edit. its 5.7 x 28, my bad

like what? they put lots of bullets downrange quickly. relatively short weapon and pistol grip means they handle quick enough, and i'd pit myself against a cop with one out to 200 yards.
them the ones with the bullets stacked vertically in the mag eh? and it slide on top of the barrel? (wiki=google= jews= not on my PC)
i'd rather have an AUG if i wanted a bullpup (plus they';re very modular, swap out for a heavy barrel for snipey snipey or put the .223 action in for CQ). tbh i' rather have a dragunov than an AK but AKs are a lot of fun.
can't say i have. well, i could, but that would be a lie, and i'm a fucking upstanding citizen. thems the mostly polymer ones eh? similar to FN FAL?
Designer Mikhail Kalishnikov 1947 ... A for Avtomat (automatic)
The Israeli army identified the AK47 s one of the best light infrantry weapons - but went to a Finnish development of that weapon - apparently gave it to their troops and said 'how can we improve this?" - as well as having tropps use a variety of other weapons ...
From what the troops said the Galil Assault Rifle was developed - then a carbine version and a machine gun version ... the Galil uses the Kalishnikov firing system - as it is one of the most jam-free work-under-any conditions systems ...

They are stunning to use - better than an AK or anything else ... mostly metal - skeletal stock (with bottle opener) ... more comfortable in your hand and easier to aim than the Steyr ...

Interesting - it looks a bit blocky and clunky - but I'd love to try one before I passed any sort of judgement ...
These came out after I stopped playing with nasty toys like this ... Now I just shoot possums and rabbits with a .22, deer with a .243 .. and birds with a 12 gauge semi ..

AK?
Noisy-as safety when operated by one hand
Mag makes it hard to 'snuggle down' when prone or behind some cover
Complicated to fit a scope
Target recovery time between shots not so quick
30 round mag awkward to carry (as extra/spare compared with M15
Don't get me wrong, a fine battle rifle with not too bad a useful range considering the slug-gun style sights, reliable-as, easy to field-strip etc etc. but not what suits most law enforcement groups.

" Life is not a rehearsal, it's as happy or miserable as you want to make it"
Yes - that's exactly right .. and there's no need to fit a scope .. the distance accuracy is not high enough to justify one .. just point and hold the trigger .. remembering that it climbs ... from memory it climbs from right to left ...
It's a great assult rifle ... that will keep firing under the worst conditions (sand, water etc ) ... but not a modern police weapon ...

Read about Aramoana and you'll know why the AK isn't that great. It's rubbish accuracy/range meant that once the ATS arrived with mere MP5s they easily outclassed him.
Admittedly they were trained in the use of their weapons and he was not as such, but it was reported that all the ATS had to do was stand far enough back that his weapon was not accurate enough to be a threat, and shoot back accurately.
Yeah, nah.
