Pah!
Since when did rough roads slow a bike.

As soon as somebody is trying to run you down, pull over and dismount.
If they're not a limp wristed soft faggot then they'll stop and you can have tea and scones with him, get a reach around and go home.
Alternatively, follow him home and beat him till he bleeds from the dick, then wipe the blood on his face and take a picture and black mail his missus, then get the money from her and tell his mates he's a bloody dick head.
But really, pull over, if he/she does not stop then you can carry on safely. It's a better idea than running away in traffic full of more silly buggers.
If he/she does stop, take your helmet off, get their number plate and be prepared to defend yourself with reasonable force
I've done it before and it never ends in violence for me (except one time, but I hit like a Tinker Bell), usually they get worried that I'm willing to confront them outside the safety of their vehicle and their dominance is challenged without said vehicle. Essentially what most of thease road rage things stem from is a dominance issue/short man syndrome. Some of those chaps can be very fucking dangerous, so if you can, get the fuck off the road.
Not so sure about delivering a hospitalizing thrashing for being a prick, but if you please, go ahead.
I do however agree and have pulled the same manoeuvre before. If someone is behaving in a threatening manner and attempting to cause you injury in traffic, just pull over and stop. Either they panic and drive on, or they stop as well, in which case be prepared to have a heated discussion involving no more than a barrage of poorly thought out insults from the other party. Smile nod and wait for them to finish before taking down their license plate, then be on your way. It's actually rather entertaining, watching a grown man warble like a toddler who dropped his juice box! Well for me anyway.
Lift the front wheel up, flip the bird with your spare hand, and fuck right off.
The only two times I have gotten aggressive was after nearly being taken out, avoided both crashes but still don't know how. Both cars lost their drivers side wing mirrors.
If someone gets agro with me I just disappear, in a fun way.
I don't believe in letting them get in front, they are more likely to see you moving over as a sign of weakness, so they will press their newly perceived advantage, silly things like brake checking you, which can cause the innocent cage driver behind you to rear end you.
Once they are in front they have the advantage, and the law on their side.... Unless you can get witnesses who will testify otherwise.
I had a funny one about two months ago.
Filtering through a long arse line of traffic built up at the lights, and I noticed a VERY angry face in a side view mirror ahead, the guys ugly screwed up angry face actually stood out!, made me think..."WTF is his problem??"
Sure enough!, as I approached at the break neck speed of 20kphish, this prize prick THROWS his door open in an attempt to block me
Unfortunately....he threw his door open straight into the side of the work van beside him...and the large samoan/island guy that got out to "educate" him, just made it that much funnier
The island guy really ripped into him, slammed his door so hard I thought it would come out the other side!...then after a few choice words, the island guy turned, gave me a "chur bro" head flick, and jumped back into his van...I gave angry guy a cute little wave as I filtered past just in time to grab the green light

Wow, I just read the thread you linked to, you're very lucky, hope you keep that bike forever, it deserves it. Did you ever have any luck finding the 4x4 responsible?
I've had a few road rage incidents but nothing even close to that bad on the bike, I once had a car full of guys try and run me of the motorway in Sydney, because I had pulled the fingers when they cut me off, that was an interesting event but it happened while driving a car, luckily for me my car was faster than his.
I've have to agree that a bike can have a personality, I bought my DR to learn to ride off road just to expand my skill set and now I love that bike, there's been a couple of situations where I can't explain how I stayed on.
I thought it was quite funny how he was saying he wouldn't wave through certain corners because he wouldn't take his hands of the bars cos it would be dangerous but he had his hands waving in front of his face.
It would have been funny if you were following him doing that shit, you'd think he was insane waving over and over at nobody
