Spent Sunday putting the GS1000 engine back together, hmm shiny bits and black painted bits.

Then noticed the 'o' ring which I thought went in the cam cover, nope.

Check manual, hmm looks like it goes between the barrels and the head.

    Fuuuucccckkkkkk

    Re- strip and rebuild again

Note to self, slowly does it and do it right.

40,000 km service and a fresh paint job. Yeah I know the rims still need doing, also fixing/painting the fairings. Hope to get it done/legal by summer.

Izzat the (vaguely) pear shaped one one the left side where the oil goes up to the head? I've replaced that without pulling the barrel right off. Remove the head, jam a couple of nuts together on the stud and remove it. Lift the barrel slightly, swap the O ring, and reassemble. I did it this way because I didnt want to disturb the piston rings. Worked fine.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Afraid not Pete, it was the rectangular one that goes around the cam chain tunnel, although did a similar thing, lifted the barrels enough to be able to lower the camchain, slip the seal into position and then pull the camchain back up again.

Still felt a total prick having to do it though

Got called out to a leaky air valve at Sat 2000, then spent all Sunday pumping out the flood and fixing said valve. Fuck I need another job.

I have just been rewiring the abs sensor wires on the rear of a mates xr6. The abs light was not on when he took it in for a warrant, but was when he picked it up. Both wires have been neatly cut with something really sharp. He failed on 2 broken rear abs sensors. Coincidence?

They told him it was something to do with the fact that he has hand controls (paraplegic), but I have my doubts.

Been there done that! Right pain in the arse when you need to strip part of the motor that looked sooo good the night before.

Yesterday I had a look at my nieces car because she just took it to a garage in Balclutha and they charged her $860 something to replace both rear control arms a wiper blade and two new radiator hoses, but it was still over heating when she called me. No new radiator hoses, still a hole in one of the heater hoses, only one control arm been done, and the blade they put in the wipers for the windscreen, was one that was on the rear wiper arm that was in the boot. She is getting some advice on payment of the bill.
