Frikkin bloody Mighty Marina went from Johnny-no-spots to Anwar Kaddiz when it comes to oil in the drive.

Looks like a rear-seal gone awol but i'net search indicates the suckers don't have a 'real' crank seal at the back and rely on a good vacuum for the PCV system.

Any one of you British Leyland fruit-loops know about these things.?

Well, as we all know children - the 1275s don't have a 'proper' rear seal.

And as long as I limit my driving to around town there's almost zero oil-drips.

But take it out on the open road screamin' its guts out for 10-15km or more and oh brother, it turns into the Torrey Canyon...

The TF I guess, the MGA and Magnete had the B block, which is an Austin designed engine, so not Morris based.

The "B" series engine was used in Morris Oxford, Wolsely 4/44 & 1500, Riley 1.5, Austin A50/A55. I was really referring to the "original" MG's, (Midgets, TA's etc), which came out of Morris Garages.

Yes, it was used in all those, because BMC used the Austin design drivetrain. MGA is not a Morris based car.

The motor was so heavy, it had plough understeer of massive proportions and the rear tyres had no show of keeping traction at more than half throttle. 3sp box too IIRC.
