He doesn't do that stuff (snapper response) well but I think he is right, most people want it (GCSB) tightened up a bit but don't want the responsibility of owning up to it in case it goes a bit to far.

Sort of like trying to steal 2nd base while still keeping the safety of their foot on 1st base! .... Fucking fence sitters but it's the NZ way!

Nicky Hager, Winston Peters, Kim Dotcom, Dr Rodney Harrison QC, Jon Stephenson, Seeby Woodhouse, Helen Kelly, Professor Jane Kelsey, Marama Davidson, Russel Norman and Hone Harawira.

Enjoy: What an uninspiring unbiased group of commentators, just that list alone would make me want to vote "for" the bill without hesitation!

word from Obama in regards to NSA programme (09/08)

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-...ess-conference

Over the past few weeks, I've been talking about what I believe should be our number-one priority as a country -- building a better bargain for the middle class and for Americans who want to work their way into the middle class. At the same time, I'm focused on my number-one responsibility as Commander-in-Chief, and that's keeping the American people safe. And in recent days, we have been reminded once again about the threats to our nation.
As I said at the National Defense University back in May, in meeting those threats we have to strike the right balance between protecting our security and preserving our freedoms. And as part of this rebalancing, I called for a review of our surveillance programs.
Unfortunately, rather than an orderly and lawful process to debate these issues and come up with appropriate reforms, repeated leaks of classified information have initiated the debate in a very passionate, but not always fully informed way.
I'm also mindful of how these issues are viewed overseas, because American leadership around the world depends upon the example of American democracy and American openness -- because what makes us different from other countries is not simply our ability to secure our nation, it's the way we do it -- with open debate and democratic process.
So all these steps are designed to ensure that the American people can trust that our efforts are in line with our interests and our values. And to others around the world, I want to make clear once again that America is not interested in spying on ordinary people. Our intelligence is focused, above all, on finding the information thats necessary to protect our people, and -- in many cases -- protect our allies.

It's true we have significant capabilities. What is also true is we show a restraint that many governments around the world don't even think to do, refuse to show -- and that includes, by the way, some of Americaï's most vocal critics. We shouldn't forget the difference between the ability of our government to collect information online under strict guidelines and for narrow purposes, and the willingness of some other governments to throw their own citizens in prison for what they say online.

    white house memo (12/08)
    http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-...ligence-collec

I believe it is important to take stock of how these technological advances alter the environment in which we conduct our intelligence mission. To this end, by the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I am directing you to establish a Review Group on Intelligence and Communications Technologies (Review Group).
on the same day (12/08) release from James Clapper - Director of National Intelligence

At the direction of the President, I am establishing the Director of National Intelligence Review Group on Intelligence and Communications Technologies to examine our global signals-intelligence collection and surveillance capability.

the same James Clapper that lied to congress just recently in regards to the secrect spying by the US government on its citizens

Possibly true but those types are always strong in opposition to anything.

always have all the answers in opposition.

Then when they get into position to do anything about any of it, they end up doing fuck all! Talks fucking cheap!

No doubt... although I'd rather listen to those who are asking the questions than those who aren't giving a shit.

heh... that's unfortunately very true in many cases... although we both know they have to do as they're told once they've been allowed to take the reigns or face the media. Quite possibly why they've been slammed over the years.

One look at the drivel you write (and this is a great example) and it's obvious who the the fucking idiot is.
    Death threats?
    Against the PM?
    On line?

Fortunately, when the GCSB see the spelling and grammar, they'll figure it's an escaped mental patient (and they won't be far wrong).
