Despite all this GCSB shit, I would still rather see this government remain in power (such as power is in NZ) than return to any of the other crappy left wing combinations on offer to replace it.

Our Aotearoa ... land of left wing mediocrity! Supercity Auckland ... city of left wing indecision! The list goes on and on, think I will just go (snapper) fishing!

You wouldn't want to disagree with 'em - they might call you nasty names.

The meeting was held in Whakatane .. and reported in Whakatane's Beacon Newspaper - which unfortunately has a subscriber-only web site so I can't show you the story ...

    John Banks was a lefty?

Rodney Hide of the supercity fame is a lefty?

so between Dame Shipley and Dear Leader Key we had the "moderate Lefty" Helen Clarke.

And instead of Helen Clarke we had the option of Second in command Mr. English 19%. But for some reason no one wanted to go there. Go figure.

I actually really would like to see a proper lefty run for anything....but it seems that everyone is so scared of the label left that they all try to outdo the "right" side of the spectrum.

as for the current crop of selected public servants, what have they done that has advanced NZ and benefited the country as a whole.
Really I would like an answer to that question. I seem to have a hard time getting one.

Not a lot, I simply said I prefer the current crop better than all the others on offer, you are not alone we would all like an answer to your question!

I'd rather see them both cooperate in our interests without the left/right bent that people seem so desperate to cling on to.

I am a non-partisan curmudgeon (despite some of the hasty conclusions drawn by you and others here).
A dickhead is a dickhead, no matter his political stripe. I include John Banks, Colin Whatsizname Conservative Party Guy and Nick Smith under that heading.

True but I don't think you will ever see that under MMP, even though there is no reason why not I.E. a National/Labour coalition!

There still needs to be an opposition to keep things healthy and honest but isn't that what the electorate is there for?
