    Quite intoxicating.

Great brakes, pretty comfortable, unique presence. After living with one: you say ugly, I say brutal.

Not disputing the ability - but the above is like saying that fat chick with the limp and no front teeth that you shagged was the best sex you ever had. No doubt true, but would you want to rock up to the pub with her?

I know they were hell bent on honouring the original Vmax in style but .......

Does that even matter? I mean you still got a root right?

I do ( and you are one record on KB as stating they are highly under-rated ...) and if I had 4 x what I paid for it to spend on a motorcycle I'd not buy a new Vmax ............ or a VF1200, or a ........

But then I'm not American and they were designed for them..................

Modern motorcycle styling is going to shit. All covered up and origami styling or repetitious copies of a 100 year old style (HD clones).

I'm a visual person - if I had the good fortune to have a unlimited budget I would find it fairly slim pickings to buy a physically desirable set of ten new bikes to fill my garage.

You are stuck in a profession where you have to be careful at what you write Dave - can't upset the money cart to much by stating you think it looks like a horses arse but goes like hell. Some British reviewers do but they are far a few apart now days. Same with new cars - considering any new vehicle requires a huge tooling investment it surprises me that someone designs a boring looking cage and then a committee approves it. Or worse a good looking vehicle is designed then some group pick out the gayest colours ever to paint them in!

Mind you the Simpsons did a show where Homer designed his ultimate car ............. maybe my ultimate motorcycle would suffer the same ending!

I'd offer that a magazine that tells it like it is would be very entertaining and may do well. Hell - look at Top Gear - they do that and succeed!!!

As do I. Suits me. Happy with it.

I cant say I care for a lot of the new bikes as they seem to try for the same look. I like the ZX14 as the front looks like no other. I also like the look of the Busa. For some reason I love the look of the VFR1200.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with a CB900.

The point was the guy who buys a V-max
probably rates a Hornet just as 'undesirable'.

    Arse biscuit.

I am neither stuck nor afeared.

I am merely accurate, vastly experienced and open minded.

But hey, lets talk about me.

Off topic, but Go on - I wanted to say to Al that it's not my 'profession' .

From what I've been told there are only two qualified journalists in the NZ bike press.
The Ed at KR has a degree from Otago (and a Qantas award) and Roger Moroney is also qualified, but his was probably chiseled on a tablet.
    But that's hearsay.

I avoid calling myself a Journalist - other than for convenience to someone who wouldn't understand anyway.

Freelance writers like me can (see what I did there) write what we like. The Editor and the Publisher decide if it gets printed. If I wrote about anything that was dangerous or a rip, then all of mine (publishers) would run it.

But I've never encountered it. Just fitness for the vehicles' intended application. That's what it is, 1250 words of: if you like.... then this bike will be good for you because it...

That's why I don't have to be careful and there isn't any pressure. I think you have to work for a Brit tabloid to do the 'Fat Boy is a shit track bike because we tell it like it is' routine.

Ad mogul David Ogilvy had a quote: 'Does advertising corrupt editors? Yes it does, but fewer editors than you may suppose... the vast majority of editors are incorruptible.'

Limited in no small part, by the stupid fucken frame.

You can do lots to them, (replacing the swingarm would be a good starting point), but in the end it's still gonna bend in the middle.

I never noticed any deficiencies with several units in street use - even lugging my weight around and pulling the odd stunt.

Some produce more engine buzz than others, but it was only minor.

Good value. If you can't afford/don't like a new Speed Triple - you get a lot of that vibe for the coin.

You sure it wasn't just a rooted shock?
