Sensational weather for a ride... Lots of interestin bikes to ogle at and while sh1 on an old bike is a bit tedious it was just such a bloody nice day to be out and about....
Perfect....
Some pictures....
Go on - a few more
Great looking selection of bikes Paul, you could'nt of picked a nicer day for a run.
If it's of interest the local Wanganui Triumph club is running a poker run early November. It would be good to see a few of the Wellington CMCC lads there.
That pic of the triumph with the high pipe looks great
I met a mate who had a mint BSA
had a high pipe on it too,, but not sure what it was
nice looking bike though
And that is the honest truth your honour..
Hi - yup - if you have a flyer or web page etc I can get it put into the next magazine... We tend to swap the mag with lots of other classic clubs around the place so you never know.
To be fair - a lot of classic riders are a bit leery of things like poker runs etc. People get a bit amped up and fail to realise that a 1950's 350 single might not sprint away at the lights quite as swiftly as a modern bike nor might it stop quite as fast... It makes for a stressful day out...
Thanks - its a great bike to own and we have really enjoyed it... Must have done as we have had it 23 years or something now...
Most common unit BSA's with high pipes are Firebird Scramblers although there are a few 'Hornets' around as well. My fave would be a 1968 Firebird with a single high pipe on each side - they are drop dead gorgeous...
The 'street scrambler' style was all the rage for a while and it still appeals to me. Or TR6C (in the picture) was probably one of the more convincing ones in that the bikes were actually used off road but by the time this one was made (1970) they really were dinosaurs. However the Triumphs at least came with a lot of off road mod's....
