    LAMS Approved?

Is this bike LAMS approved? http://www.kawasaki.co.nz/catalog/st...0FDSW/overview
It says so on the Kawasaki website, but not on the LAMS list http://www.nzta.govt.nz/licence/gett...cles/lams.html
I really need help because I want this bike but am not sure if it's approved.

It meets the requirements, but hasn't yet been published as approved. I would suggest you write to NZTA and ask them.
    Time to ride

It's approximately the "ER650FDFW" on the LAMS list.

Some wisdom in that. I have an ER-5 with 50hp, I was going to get a Striple next year when I get my full, but given I'm not 100% with the ER-5s performance yet I've decided to wait another couple of years! 50hp's plenty for me at the moment.

Yamaha in particular advertised the FZ6R as LAMS approved when it wasn't on the list. When I asked NZTA about it they just said "I suggest you ask Yamaha"

Really it comes down to false advertising which would be the Commerce Commission's remit.

Yamma's (prompt) answer was that the model number is all that's different between the FZ6R and the.... XJ6-FL, or something. Confusing for consumers, but not misleading.

    So, yeah, ask Kawasaki....

the LTSA jsut copied the Australian List, and caused no end of problems when it had bikes that had been restricted in australia, and never brought here, GSXR600U's are a perfect example,

as for the kawasaki's, in 2013 some restricted 650's were brought in and are for sale, however any earlier ones are not restricted so are not legal, (unless someone has brought in a used one from Australia, and has had it registered with the right model code, )
