    Red face

Ok I have to totally resurrect this thread.

You guys are totally and utterly AWESOME!

A KB member I met only 3 weeks before agrees to come on my trip with me that everyone told me I shouldn't/couldn't do.

When I get into a spot of trouble another member drives up a few hours to come pick up my bike for me and stores it at his place. And manages to give it a quick fix.

Now when I have to somehow get it home from Whangarei ANOTHER KB member just offers to ride it down for me.

I honestly can't believe just how ......... awesome (I can't think of another word lol) everyone is.

This is beyond just being "good people"

I'd hold off until he/she actually shows up with your bike

Good to hear you came out of it unscathed

Lol, the way most people on kb talk about 250s I'm sure she will get it back

Just out of interest, why did people tell you not to do that ride?

Just people at NASS doing what people at NASS do, being sensible about everything.
I personally didn't see any problems but quiet a few others were trying to talk Juniper out of it. I think most thought it was beyond her level. I don't know how your suposed to learn without pushing your skills to the next level. People just seem to worry alot I think.

Nevermind that, gotta deal with it just about every day from my mrs. But then again her ex died on a bike...

Hmm, she lives in AKL so she must be able to survive city traffic. And I've seen her flicking through the twisties on the prison ride. What kind of roads do you have up there?

(Serious question cause I still want to ride up north some time)

Exactly what Reibz said. That and the forest would be wet and green, the roads narrow and twisty and yeah that its beyond my skill.

But I had absolutely great fun. we didnt push it really hard. Those roads were easy apart from the Forest and gorge which I took at my pace.

I hit a dog. And I didnt fall off. Not something that could be forseen.

Apart from the Forest and Gorge really smooth and sweepy. You'll love it.

None of the NASS guys have seen me ride. (That one time with Reibz so does not count!! Those were nasty roads)

Oh yeah! Got to the Cape and back down the peninsula in the day (before doggie but we were going to stop at the next town anyway for acco)

I keep saying that the world is our Carpark. And now I have proof. Also found the worlds best breakfast table.

Took a break at every gassie even if I didn't need to full the whole way. Stopped when I started day dreaming and his lines got worse Didn't go dangerous pushing. But didn't wander either. Probably only a tad faster than the constant speed group of the prison trip.

I will do it again in a heart beat. 2 days is perfect time.

sounds like an awesome trip, only way to build skill and confidence is to get out and ride, way to many nay-sayers out there who beleive the only way to ride is their way. Go for it i say, maybe a trip down south for ya soon, knew a lady a few year ago that did three trips round the south island on her GN 250 and enjoyed every minute of it.
pleased you didn't get offed by the mishap, take heart in the fact that skill would have played a big part in that, you kept cool and stayed upright when you could have so easily paniked and gone down.

I see you have changed your location, fitting area for a piece of vintage machinery such as yourself.

    Here are some favorites.

Someone posts on KB about needing help with a broken SV footpeg after dropping their bike,I recognise the bike from a KB ride the previous Sunday.
I suggest to bring it over as I am familiar with that bike and know the securing bolts are loctited.
Over they come. I remove the hanger, change out the broken parts etc and off they go.
They post in their thread that they had found the tools to do it ??

Someone posts that they have a problem with a bike and they are going to split the engine cases to fix this 'gearbox problem and have no way to release the clutch securing nut.
I end up driving across Auckland in peak hour traffic with compressor and rattle gun.
When I get there I diagnose it as a clutch problem not the gearbox, remove the clutch nut etc to find indeed the clutch is fried.
They post in the thread that they had found the problem ??
Not long after I get a PM asking if I can come back and do the clutch nut up,I laugh and delete the message ??

Someone else posts on KB they have been quoted up to $1000 to have the clutch done in their TL1000 at a dealership .
I offer to look at it after asking them to get a new clutch plate set ($250?)
Around they come,I remove the clutch including removing the cam set to check that also, back together it goes and test ride by them says all good.
They post in their thread they got it sorted ??

Someone posts just before Christmas that Suzuki NZ do not have any Suzuki TL1000 head gaskets in stock and post asking if anyone has one as they are going away on their bike.
I have new spares for my TL's so offer one and they say they will place a order with Suzuki to replace it asap.
They are over like a shot to get it.
Months and months go by before it is replaced after PM's not answered (even though it showed they were read) and having to put a thread up here to get something done in the end.

What did all have in common ?
All were from the northern hemisphere but just a coincidence of course.
I think Kiwi's are generally a helpful bunch.
