Really wanted to go and watch this, but was otherwise occupied. Mind you, if I'd gone I may have been tempted back to the dark side so I could join in...

Ha ha thanks, but I spent enough time in hospital due to my 'modern' 250 smoker getting away on me, a VMX aged 500 does not strike me as a good investment.

However, a 150SX does tempt me on a regular basis....

A K.I.P.S equipped (1986 on) KX500 is a pussy cat to ride until you try to go fast on 'em! Fun too.

It's this part of the sentence that is my problem. I'm always trying to go fast and it's only through experience that I have realised my talent does in no way reach to the level I want to ride at. So these days I choose bikes that help manage the huge disconnect between my ability and the stupid part of my brain that ends up controlling the throttle.

i dont think any 500 2 stroke has ever been a pussy cat, maybe not as wild as the earlier, air cooled non power valve ones,

enjoyed riding a 500 again, took me a while to adjust my style to it, you cant ride the front wheel as much as a modern four stroke, but since i had not ridden it till practice (counties winning the shield took my weekend riding time away)

a very much point and shoot machine to ride, but man, when you get them hooked up, they are awesome,

geez the track looked slick in the morning.
How was it in the afternoon Scott? I got to watch the 250's and VMX only before i had to go.

to the father in the stands telling his kid that he couldn't ride at Kens because it is hill billy MX i think your've lost the plot.

Kid " dad can i come ride here, it looks like fun"
Dad " no son, your chasing nationals not this hill billy shit"
Kid " but it looks fun"
Dad " you think the other top national riders are here. No. If you want to be #1 you have to go where they are riding, this shit will do nothing for your skills.

And i thought you rode mx for the fun of it. Give the kid a break!

Is there any off road track you can ride that doesn't improve your skills? That track looks pretty awesome to me and would love to have gone up for for the 2T races but budget and time constraints wouldn't allow it

Bought my first 125 a few months back and had a race on it weekend before last. It's an ideal shed mate to my 450 as it's good in the places the 450 isn't and vice versa.
Smoke 'em if you have 'em

You run what you brung, and pray you brought enough

The amount the dad could have learnt from the laughs coming from the pits and the smiles that i could see on the start line.

you could learn a hell of a lot trying to keep upright in that slick mud in the morning. I would have been on the deck on that second off camber corner along with everyone else who was dropping their bikes. It looked like a lot of fun.

Hopefully i can find a bike to race in the VMX next year.
