well under the threat of Brendan bitch slapping me I thought I better put my point forward.
As I only got my engine back the week before from a rebuild needed through my own stupidity, time was against me. Anyway Brendan pulled all the stops and i got it back with time to do a couple of heat cycles and a quick dyno run to check it was a goodin.
Anyway BOB came around with the bike not being run in anger, although with reasonable showing on the dyno i set myself a top ten finish.
In practice I took it easy for the session wanting to give the fresh motor the best chance, Brendan made a few changes this time when assembling the engine and what a change it made.
With the need to have a good showing in the sprint races to get a good grid it was all on, I used to love the warm up lap race for a good grid! After a good couple of sprint races i qualified 5th on the front row so was happy with that and riding one of the oldest framed bikes in the race. Being old and very fat dosent help with churning out consistantly fast lap times and soon found the skinny kids caught up at the 10min mark and I found my sprint lap speed was waining. Even with Brendan slowing to try and motivate me I found I could push hard for a period but had to back off for the odd lap with the visor up and leathers unzipped slightly. Im not sure of my final result but about 6th and only had Matt lap me twice and Bailie once and three or so finished ahead on the same lap, bloody stoked and I thought I'd see Kickaha a bit more but the old GN is a goodin. No Nofies were ahead of me which was a surpries but its a big ask to go to a big track and get on the pace in a couple of races and practice, no more than we would struggle at kart tracks. It was a pity Dave had issues and Rich had to pull out of coming as well as Al and James deciding to go MTB, WTF!........now that would have been a hoot to watch that lot battling it out. But it only take one hoogie to win a race.
Pity I got out of my gear so early as i had an offer to ride a GPR and from what Bren tells me they are pretty special and obviously with more time the Palmy boys had the gear to compete at the pointy end. Thanks for making the effort boys and i'm sure we will see you back, I'm off to Greymouth next week and have some deamons to put to bed, all three Hoogies are going so top 5 is the goal!!!!
Its harder to lose weight than gain horsepower.
Many thanks Suzi Q, great job there! Gotta work on technique and speed, and everything else, but its good to see how the better ones do it. Will no doubt see copies via Bert, so thanks again.![]()
Well I've got a stuck ring on the piston, that what I was suspecting caused the power loss after the airleaks, but I was a bit surprised to find the crank pin broken which happened in the 2nd to last race, there was a rattle so I parked it. The main on that side was also loose & I think that was what caused the vibration that loosened the bolts & eventually broke the pin.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
