We have a deep biological drive to spread our genes around as far and as wide as we can ... that is to be human .. coupled with a religuious imperative to monogamy ... that's a human-created demand ...
I will go with being human ... bugger your stupid rules about monogamy ...
So Len was human and pissed off his wife ... what the hell does that have to do with the rest of us ???
"So if you meet me, have some sympathy, have some courtesy, have some taste ..."
Nothing at all ... but it was his mingling of that liaison into and around his duties and accountabilities as Mayor of Auckland City that he fucked up on!
He is answerable to the ratepayers for that and should have "their official backing" to continue, not his own arrogant recommendation to "trust him"!
He has already demonstrated that he is not worthy of their trust ... he should quit until he has that "renewed" vote of confidence now that he has been outed!
That has always been custom and practice under similar circumstances in the past but Len Brown is trying to make his own rules!![]()
Yes and No. Spreading genes is a fundamental drive for all life on the planet no argument.
Monogamy however is not a recent idea introduced by human culture. It dates back at least 500,000 years and is an evolutionary trait because pair bonding is a successful strategy. Why? Being "married" ensures our babies are protected and cared for because they are helpless for much longer than any other animal's offspring. The bond ensures the male is protecting his own genetics.
Monogamy occurs in the animal kingdom - 90% of birds pair bond, some fish, insects, and even a species of worm.
When u lot haved stopped arguing and len has had his way

Take it your not married? Cool, completely agree, if your not in a long term relationship or married then hell yeah fuck as much and as many as you can. But not when your married and have taken vows to spend the rest of your life with some one. Religion has nothing to do with it and neither does being human. Saying that its human nature is a cop out that basically he didn't have the balls to live up to the promises he made to his wife.
Yeah - I'm married - done it twice now ... so much for "vows to sped the rest of my life ..." (never made that vow anyway)
Human beings are fuck ups - all of us ... that's the nature of human beings ... have you kept ALL of your promises ??? All the promises you ever made during your life?
And you know what promises Len made to his wife do you ???
"So if you meet me, have some sympathy, have some courtesy, have some taste ..."
