    GSX250 after-market exhaust?

    Hey riders,
I am taking my GSX250 2004 in for a service in a couple of weeks and I have the extra money for an after-market exhaust (I know most riders will say - "save the money for when you get a better bike" but I'm not planning on upgrading for a while).
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has seen the same bike with an after-market exhaust or if anyone has themselves? I can't find any that are sold for the model and my local Suzuki said he can't find any for it either. They said it may be possible to modify it to fit one, but I don't know what kind of work that would entail.

    Cheers!

TL;DR Has anyone got an after-market exhaust on the same bike?

I assume you just want a muffler, not a full exhaust?

Tyga have them, just pick the one you want.

Ignore what they're fitted to (keep with 4 stroke of course!), a muffler is just a piece of tube with some holes in it so it can't really be fucked up (that's an abridged version of what the guy running Akrapovic thinks).

If you simply can't find anyone to make the link pipe for you, PM and I'll fix you up with someone local. Having said that, any exhaust shop in town will find it a trivial task.

    Personally I'd go with a maggot: http://tyga-performance.com/site/ind...th=71_815_1125

Tyga stuff is pretty good value for money; I have shed loads of it. Only complaint I've had is the lightweight stainless chambers for two strokes are more race orientated (very thin light weight sheet used, not designed for every day road abuse like mild steel heavy arse standard ones). No surprises there though!

    Thanks mate,

I will see if Suzuki is willing to do it while they've got it.
My understanding is that its like a "One size fits most" situation?
So for example these would work just as well as the one you suggested, right?

Is there any shops in town that sell Tyga pipes? or can I only get it shipped?

    Cheers

Get it off their site. They don't charge much for freight (as if there prices weren't good already!). They've also been really dedicated to the small bike market, and deserve our trade.

Yep, any of that 43mm bore stuff should be just the ticket... one twin of 250-300cc is very much the same as another! You might find that that RVF400 is more like 50mm bore, so go the Kawasaki 250-300 route. The bike applications are more about mounts and link pipes, so don't let that bother you.

    Alright, cheers.

Is it just Tyga that has the kind of "One size fits most" or would other brands like Yoshimura, mussari and Akrapovic be fitted just the same?

They're mostly all the same... things have changed a wee bit with the increase of under bike mufflers, but that isn't too much different to what happened in the 90s with underseat mufflers.

Basically, on something like a Yoshi, they have a common core, outer tube, end cap, and it's only the front cap that changes (to suit the varied bolt patterns between models/brands). Oh, and the mounting strap. They, like Tyga etc, will have a range of cores, in different lengths, outer tubes of different lengths, and then they assemble to suit.

Have a look at dyno charts, you will see all the mufflers are within cooee of each other as far as output goes... the Akra guy is right... you have to be pretty retarded to fuck up a half metre long 2-1/4" perforated tube with a cover

To put a exhaust on pne of these you need to get the old one cut off and a flange made up . I put two pod fliters on mine and it gave it a coool roar

    Thanks man!

I'm gona talk to my local Suzuki tomorrow to see if they will get the pipes that come out of the head and have a 110mm pipe welded (instead of it expanding to 140mm) so that I can fit a cheapish Musarri exhaust.
If that's going to cost more than $400 I'll just approach that store instead
Thanks for the link, he also has crash bungs which I've been looking for because they're not made for my bike.

    Cheers

Easy enough just to run it on a slip joint, it's how I do mine.
Or smash some baffles out your stock pipe...

$400 is too much money for generic chinky carbon mufflers.

Build your own would be a better option: http://www.pjengineering.co.uk/

Those Tyga exhausts seem reasonably priced. Anyone know why bike exhausts seem to be so expensive? I've seen prices of over $1000 just for an end can.
