Hi , thank you for your email. You won't need a combination for Edwards pass you can use the mountain bike entrance.
The track condition is quite wet and boggy in place and the river flow I am not sure about, but you can only take your motorbikes down as far as the Waiau River and then it is foot access only.
One of our Rangers will be going in early this week so I will be able to get an update from them if you want to ring the office about Wednesday.
I'll give them a ring latter in the week and see if there is anymore information they can give.
Sweeeet ! says the guy on the smallest bike with the biggest knobblies.
I'm keen to go hutting regardless of how far we get in the actual passes.
My ideal plan would be Edwards - Mailings - Island Gully hut.
That would also see us escort the big bikes back to solid ground for their return home.
Reckon there be a vote at Hanmer at the fuel up and last pie grab.

mattsdakar told me his XR650 is now for sale, he's got something blue now.
His internet access is down at the moment so just asked I tell people in case there's any interest here until he gets back online to advertise it properly.

Hot water bottles are good value too. Just remembered to add mine to the 'for packing' pile.
Oh how quickly it outgrows my bags.

Hey guys, just wondering if there is room for a novice on this ride, I have a dr650 with knobblies so the bike should be able to handle it, its really a question of if you guys have the patience to way for me to catch up? I have winter camping gear so should be alright for that if I end up staying on Saturday night
