Yes, I'm still inclined to take a tent and stay in there, but haven't read the thing where you have to pay in advance to see how bad weather may affect things after you pay. Guess I should read that now.
I'm also interested to know when and where ADVGD will be arriving or what time he expects to be at the gate. A small chance I'd try camp somewhere nearish Kaikoura or maybe Waiau/Inland rd Friday night too but no chance of getting in to the Clearance after work in time for entry before 5pm.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

i've been thinking about this and remember when i was farming in the high country we had the same problem ( it was the air cooled engine getting too cold ) we used to give them a little choke before going in. This helped. In winter we left choke on after crossing till engine warmed up otherwise they wouldn't idle. It may not be your problem. A leanish tuned engine was more affected.
Just another thing to ponder on.

Cheers Flash, does sound like it in some ways. When it died in Mailings I had to use choke to get it going again but of course the engine was nice and warm both rides.
In mailings, it would idle but not rev, choke on then no problem.
On this less valley ride, it died but started again no worries.
I'm gonna try trimming the spark plug cable like Kenny suggested in case there's a loose connection there, can't hurt I guess ...
There's no rivers out here so I guess I'll have to take the bike down the beach to test

Peeteey If you get stuck in the sand you may never see your bike again. Your test with the hose was good. I think you hit the nail on the head and you'll be sweet. Are you doing the Clarence reserve

Try re routing the breather hoses, when guys turn their carb Yz's into woods/trail bikes they have had the same issues with water on occasion , nothing to lose :-)

I have a wedding on the 18th, if anyone is interested in doing a run (Clarence) the weekend after due to weather or whatever, I'd be keen.

Could be worth a trip to the Ashley just to be safe. I heard it's shallow as at the moment

Righto, 3 hoses successfully re routed. I put a T connector (brass) in each hose and ran a new hose from that up to the steering column thing, hopefully all go now, might have to do a ride somewhere tomorrow to check but I think I'll avoid the Ashley thanks Tazz That wasn't you, was it?

I'm definitely keen on the 18th and I like the idea of staying in a backpackers overnight! Which one have you booked into, Cynna?

Hope so, guess we'll find out next weekend

    P.s. What's a Rokon? Have a feeling I'm missing something here ..

I love camping, especially when the tent is a house and the beds are already made up
