Oh. So that 'woooo oooo oooo' sound may not just be the sound of the wind passing over the blades then.

Seeing as I'm not down that way often these days I'll share one.

Muhunoa East Road, Ohau, just south of Levin. A Km or so off S.H.1 (to the east, duh) there's a lovely spot under some trees beside a stream. It's been a while since I was there so this does come with a disclaimer.

When you fly in to Wellington airport from the north there is a hill on your left with some kind of memorial on it.

    The marble is quite cold.

EDIT - Fuck. I thought I was being original at the time, and a little bit risque, but if it was the Massey Memorial I owe the ex an apology. Mind you, she was the Wellingtonian. Ah fuck, I feel used. And a little bit dirty.

I used to go jogging up Masseys Memorial with my dog. I saw a couple rooting under a tree up there and my damn dog got off the leash and ran up to them and started licking the dudes arse. I just kept on jogging

The Kaitoke Regional Park on the way to the 'takas offers some nice secluded, shady spots beside a nice stream to bath in afterwards. And it's a nice ride out there ...

Just over the top of the hill on the way to Makara ... on the left as you go towards Makara ... also on the same road there's a nice valley at the bottom of the hill with shadey spots beside the stream ...

There's also a nice secluded cemetery just below Vic Uni on (I think) Salamanka Road ... (just might have to fight the students for space .. but it's close to the city)

Below Crawford Prison there's some nice secluded spots in the trees ... on both sides of the peninsula ... and it's a nice ride around there.

Go through Wainuiomata and south to the Orongorongo park .. if you take a bike around the coats from there (and there are obvious spots to stop) you can also ride the bikes up the Orongorongo River .. off road bikes that is ... plenty of places there.

(But no guarantees as I left WGTN in 1988.)
