Yea it was a great night actually.Even with the 2 hour round trip to get the van

Racing a big boy bike for 5 years, rebuilding the clutch after every meeting and every crash.

How do enduro bikes not fuck their clutches after every steep wet incline? How is the strain on the engine then any different to a burnout?

Do you expect her to sit on the spot at the limiter for 2minutes trying to bake the engine? She may be a female but baking isn't always her intention. Those DR series engines are pretty rigid. If a clutch goes kaput, she did it wrong, and a new clutch kit is a couple hundy and an easy install. Or just buy/clean up the plates, and oil change.

Do you really think it takes as much effort to spin a dirt bike wheel in muddy conditions as it does to spin a road bike wheel on dry tarmac?

Just how fucking stupid are you?

And besides, why do you think the clutch is the only thing that may suffer?

I doubt that very many mechanics would advise you that it's a great idea.

Those that are encouraging you to do it either have no clue of what it could potentially do to your motor or are secretly hoping that it goes tits up. Everyone loves a fail story after all.
And then there are mechanics who have a life/personality/daring do/friends/party attitude.
Treat yourself, and buy a new anorak.

Fuck me I think I logged into GAYBIKER by mistake.

Some years back before watercooled bikes (well apart from the CX500, Z1300 and Suzi waterbottle ..) bike shops ENCOURAGED you to light up the rear tyre when you rode it in to replace it.

Shit I watched riders pass their bikes to the mechanic to light it up as they were unsure what to do.

Yes they are both under similar load. Have you ever done a burnout? Once traction is broken, almost immediately, there is little load on the engine. That was someones argument before wasn't it? That the engine isn't under load and it harming the engine the same as if you rev the tits off it in neutral.

Heres an example, I have had an engine turn into Swiss cheese from revving it for too long. On the start line, clutch in, full throttle, the ref was waiting for a rider who was creeping before he let the tapes go, none of us knew this and I didn't want to lose the gate, so held it full throttle for about 5 or 6 seconds (ref said 1 to 3 seconds at briefing, but I don't trust my counting on the start). Bam, snapped rod, lunched engine. 5 seconds revving a warmed engine with no load and its dead. Yet I've done burnouts on the bike both with that engine and the replacement, for a shitload longer and nothing bad happened. In fact the oil drained afterwards had no metal flakes.

I think I'm waffling on now. But if any engine component gives way on a burnout, it would give out on an enduro anyway. And bossladys engine is an enduro based engine, designed to operate at slow speeds and high revs for long periods.

Would you cunts stop worrying about the clutch and arguing over petty mechanical shit? Might as well get the vernier out and have a dick measuring contest while your at it too.
Should have come along tonight boss, could have made a sick video

It was funny at the Kawasaki drag day watching all the bikes blowing their clutches and gear boxes up so none of them could ride home after the event

And yeah, just get on with it.
Then we can move onto the "I told you so" part of the thread. Or not.
