Nearly too hot to ride

Did my daily commute 75kms each way, morning temp a nice 25deg C, on the way home it was 39deg C with 16% humidity - no matter how fast I went it was hot, think of riding with a fan heater turned up high shoved in your face & down your jacket, couldnt open visor as eyes just dried out & stung - get home & legs were just plain hot had to peel my jacket & gloves off me, helmet needs a good clean as the sweat inside was like doing an endurance race.

Was wearing leather jacket as vented jacket is worse when this hot & Teknic bike jeans

Fuck riding any sort of bike in those temperatures. Stay somewhere with air conditioning instead.

...my son in Melbourne said that he sped up when he saw a cop on his commute to work...was 40+degrees and the thought of the fine and sitting in an air conditioned car for a few minutes sounded better than burning up on his bike...delirious...

I lived in Adelaide for many years and the record was broken when there somewhere in the early 1990s at 46.4 C !
But I remember it being 35 degrees ALL night quite often in the summertime.
Hard to get used to at first, you know, not opening the drapes in the morning that sort of thing. Cos by 7.30am you'd be back up to 40 C !
Just keep the air con running.
At first you'd run the car air con in the 20s coming from Wgton, but after getting acclimatised wouldn't use it till 33C !

i guess the only fix for this would be to use a car with decent AC in it.

I hear ya mate. Was 48 deg c when I rode through the Nevada Dessert. Was as glad as fuck when I made it to Las Vegas that's for sure!

Can't you get 'cool layers' to wear under your leathers for that sort of heat (the opposite to thermals)? Might be worth the investment.

Lol. Yeah it wasn't a cheap coupla days for sure! The misting staions were funny as though. Walk 200m and then have to stand in front of a giant fan blowing tiny particles of ice/water at you to cool you down before you make it another 200m!

Thats no good either, have you ever sat in front of a fan heater in shorts & singlet, then ride down a dirt road for 8kms not a good idea - even tho its hot I will still ride with good gear on dont like the idea of coming off without it

Yeah I went for a short ride in that heat once in Vegas in a tee shirt...was worse than having my leather jacket on. So helmet vents shut, jacket on etc is def a lil easier to cope with.
