All purpose kinda thrash or daily bike?

I want something a little different now that I have a bigger bike.

    Is there anything that is

    1) Dual purpose / dirt bike road legal.
    2) Under $3000 if possible
    3) Ugly that no one would care to steal it so I can just park it anywhere.
    4) 4 Stroke don't really want to have to premix all the time.
    5) Will sit 100 kilometres per hour.
    6) Bullet proof engine if possible.
    7) At least 200km to a Tank of gas
    8) Can do two up at a pinch

Really just want a bike that I don't have to care much about and can leave anywhere. Eg: Go to the beach and not worry that someone pushed it over etc.

Will be interesting to see what people recommend.

    Cheers
    Peter

Just slide it down the road a few times to discourage people from stealing it.

    Used DR650 or KLR 650

DR better off road - sports riding.

KLR better on longer rides or taller rider.

You could buy my klx650 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=696527778

only problem is its $4000 and you would need to fit pillion pegs but it meets all the other criteria

The DR650 or KLR 650 look like a good choice just have to keep an eye out and maybe save up some more monies?

Any opinions on the klx250 etc are they to gutless?
    Is a 650 trail/adventure touring bike significantly better than a 250?

Btw I'm getting a good laugh out of some peoples options keep them coming.

250 might be too gutless on the open road, but ideal for trails (lighter). Still get you to 100kph on road id think. My bike is quick to 100kph then slow from 115 to 130, I'm 100kg.

Get a GN250. It will do a million miles per gallon, tires and chain and sprockets will never wear out, it will go faster than 104kph, insurance should be cheap, if it falls of the side stand, so what and you should be able to buy one for 3/5ths of fuck all.
